They came up with the idea in 2013 and laid the foundation stone in Oct 2013.. it....and NDA govt. cancelled it in 2015..just like the Kadapa BHEL was allocated by UPA - 300 crs was spent on initial work...and then NDA moved the project to UP. | ||

These centers will similar on the lines of FCI that were set up in 1960s,70s and 80s - except that there was no technology then and hence they were used for only storing non perishables and did not become an "active" part of the supply chain. Food processing centers with cold storage etc were set up in the especially in progressive states like AP in the 90s & 2000s - but they were far too few considering the size of India. | ||

He continued...OK..Maybe Rs.5 a kilo...how many potatoes are used in that packet? Maybe half a potato.Not more than that.... And how much is this packet sold for? And how much is the farmer getting from this packet? 50paise or even lesser... This has to change..... And tweeting this conversation like this reflects how biased ANI is....which is a Bhakth agency these days. Yes...the parity started in the early 90s after liberalization when Pepsi, Coke etc entered and started the Potato chips, ketchup etc. However the difference was not so high as it is today i.e. the farmer got decent returns and RBI data shows this - During the years 2011 to 2014 - the income of the farmers kept increasing steadily. And after 2015,it kept decreasing steadily while a few food processing & retail organizations are increasing their profits! When Rajiv or Indira were ruling, we never had the MNC food processing companies - they came in after liberalization when they were convinced that the foundations of India are rock solid and they can do business freely. | ||

Watch the actual speech...from 7:30.. he said... A farmer gets Rs.5 for a kilo of Potatoes... Half a Potato is used in one packet of chips....and that packet is sold for a much higher price....
