Alexander won against Porus.. he made him a satrap or put him under his satrap for that area.. however the homesickness , tiredness, the amount of beating they took, the weather, mosquitoes etc etc made his army rebel to go back.. so he set up his local satraps started back to home and died enroute | ||

Oliver Stone's epic with Collin Farrel - I expect many have seen this movie. I was thinking about it yesterday - the final war episode is with Porus or his Son, where Alexander does some Hail Mary stuff and eventually back tracks and decides to go back to greece. The ware is shown pertty brutal and also is shown how ill equiiped Alexander's army is to battle the a "local king" however, in our history I always read that Alexander wins the war but gives back the kingdom to Porus - and also Porus' wife was rakhi sister to Alexander ani ... but Oliver stone shows it almost as if, Alexander lost the battle, and with his favorite buddy dead in the battle, decides to go back . Oliver stone is know to make efforts to be as factually right as possible, and is in contrast with what we read in school. if anyone read any other alternative versions ikkada ettandi.. between the war epsiode is short in a red tinge and overlays.. and is shown pretty brutal.. interesting watch.. It appears that India kings were much powerful than their greek or persian counterparts... i think it would make a great movie if just this war episode is done a 90 minute movie... |
