good question .. I think I have reconciled the two by approaching sprituality from a scientific inquiry perspective ... itâs one more hypothesis ... I stake no claim for them being accurate or have any links now to back them up with 1-Bala Tripura Sundari- is a manifestation or in some versions daughter of Sri Lalita Tripura Sundari and is depicted playing at the Mother's feet . While She is a powerful warrior who vanquished Bhandasura' s 30 sons, it is also her childlike divine play that results in creation, preservation and destruction of the world.. **** 2- Gayatri,the mother of Vedas, is also worshipped as the culmination of the Trimurti and of Lakshmi, Parvati and Sarasvati.. She is depicted seated on a red lotus. Her five heads symbolize the five elements earth, Sky, water, air and ether Gayatri,the mother of Vedas, is also worshipped as the culmination of the Trimurti and of Lakshmi, Parvati and Sarasvati.. She is depicted seated on a red lotus. Her five heads symbolize the five elements earth, Sky, water, air and ether or the five Prana vagus- prana, apana ,vyana, udana and samana .. Her ten arms hold all the weapons of the Trimurtis ..She is also accompanied by a white swan denoting spiritual knowledge.... **** 3 - Mata Annapoorna - the Goddess of Nourishment- adorned in garlands of fruits and vegetables., It's said that in a playful moment Parvati closed Shiva's eyes thus blocking the sun, moon and fire .. That moment in their time equated to years of darkness on earth ..resulting in Akala Pralaya, a severe famine..Stricken by remorse, Parvati left Kailasa.. Another legend says that Parvati was angered by Shiva's dismissal of all things material, including food, as Maya , an illusion. To make Shiva see the importance of the material world , Parvati, who is also Prakriti decided to vanish..stripping the earth of its fertility and as a result, all food, causing the Akala .. Both legends converge at this point. Distraught at the plight of her starving devotees, the Mother appeared in Kasi as Annapoorna to alleviate their hunger.. Hearing that She is in Kasi, Shiva went to her with his begging bowl..thus acknowledging the importance of material world.. The Goddess is shown ladling food from a pot with Shiva receiving the foodð **** Devi Navaratri Day 4 - Goddess Mahagauri Prakriti /Shakti can range from beautiful ,radiant benevolence to dark, storming fury ..and each Her manifestations has a purpose... Among these, Mahagauri is the form which is the epitome of serenity, beauty and radiance! Mahagauri also known as Mangala Gauri , rules the heart and fulfills the wishes and desires of her devotees. Usually worshipped with her family She is the bestower of bliss and well being in gruhasthashramam or family life... With Her four hands she exhorts us to pursue the four Purusharthas (aims of human life)... Dharma(righteousness) , Artha( prosperity) , Kama( desires) and Moksha (salvation)ð ***** 7 - Shri Maha Saraswati Maha Saraswati is the embodiment of all jnana(knowledge) in the world. She reigns over the intellect and She is Vakdevi, the ruler of the spoken word and sound...Her light dispels the darkness of ignorance.. MahaSaraswati is the enlightened state of mind. One legend goes that Maha Saraswati emanated from Maha Gauri to vanquish Shumbha, the asura. Another legend has Her emanating from Brahma to give order to the chaos of the universe through knowledge.She is Brahma's creative intelligence and rules all creative arts.. Devi Saraswati is draped in white representing Sattva tatva and is seated on a white lotus representing pure enlightenment . She is heralded by a multihued peacock representing the arts and her Veena is the source of all sound and music. She is Hamsavahini - the one who rides a swan. Swans are known to have the magical ability to separate water from milk and drink only the milk . Saraswati's Hamsa symbolizes the honed intellect able to discriminate noise and only imbibe true knowledge on the path to wisdom. The Swan also represents the Hamsa mantra - so ham - I am that. Devi Saraswati's blessings are sought before all educational endeavors as it is her grace that enables the mind to imbibe knowledge ð 8 - Shri Maha Durga Durga - literally means the invincible, the unconquerable. MahaDurga is the manifest form of the Avyakta (unmanifested) energy of the universe - Adi Shakti . Seated on a tiger (or lion) that represents the will and determination, Maha Durga is the power that preserves moral order and righteousness in the creation. She is the origin of all the Shaktis - the Navadurgas, Saptamatrikas and the Dasa Mahavidyas! Maha Durga is the warrior, the slayer of Mahishasura , the buffalo headed Asura representing sloth, inaction & laziness. Realizing Her within slays the inner demons of illusions, ignorance, selfishness, jealousy, prejudice, hatred, anger, and ego. ð An interesting take I read many years ago - all of the Mother's battles are direct - face to face combats... There is no subterfuge or trickery involved ..She just cuts to the chase and gets the job done Maha Durga brings us fearlessness and strength to slay the inner demons created by our mind. Durga represents the power of the Supreme Being that preserves moral order and righteousness in the creation. Durga, also called Divine Mother, protects mankind from evil and misery by destroying evil forces such as selfishness, jealousy, prejudice, hatred, anger, and ego. **** 9 - Shri Maha Kali Maha Kali - She is Parashakti and the Supreme Brahman. Sheâs the Universal Mother of creation, the Primordial Creatrix - the creation begins with her and at the the time of Maha Pralaya everything dissolves into Mahakali except Mahakal. The legend goes that Kali was invoked to kill Raktabija - who had the capacity to replicate himself from each drop of his blood that hit the earth and stopped his proliferation by ensuring she consumed the blood before it fell down... Raktabija represents is the normal, unruly state of our mind. In our effort to meditate as soon as one thought is controlled it gives birth to tens of other thoughts and our energy is scattered across these thoughts. Maha Kali is the concentrated energy that subdues these thoughts and takes us to the calm, pure consciousness. The image of Mahakali is fearsome but She is the most compassionate as She gives Moksha to her children. She is black or midnight blue representing the void of unmanifest Shakti ! She is free from the illusory covering, for she is beyond the all maya or "false consciousness." She has a sword in one hand and a severed head in another - the head is the ego, which is the barrier to moksha! She wears a garland of 50 skulls , one for each letter of the Sanskrit alphabet - representing Her dominion over the totality of words,thoughts, and all knowledge... She wears a skirt of arms - signifying action and liberation from karma! She is standing on Shiva who represents pure formless consciousness sat-chit-ananda! The kind mother She is , with one hand she signals abhaya (fear not) and with other she offers boons to her children **** 10: Shri Raja Rajeswari Devi is the presiding deity of the Srichakra ! Rajarajeshwari Devi holds a noose in one hand , representing the will and love by which She binds the whole creation. In another hand she has a goad - the symbol of the power of knowledge, by which the whole creation is spurred into activity. The sugar cane stem in the third hand depicts the mind principle of man. As with all, there are multiple versions of ganesha's birth. One logic is that some gods went through multiple birth and death cycles until they reached their perfect form. Indra was one of them...even parvathi was in the form of sati before she became eternal... Its from one of the recent songs that got stuck in my mind. yes, evening maa daggara temple lo they read chandi path every day one chapter per day. Ninna start chesaru, danto paatu ee 9 days lalita chanting at one house per day, and to top there is Garba every day in temple..Even though I dont participate in Garba, I will be at temple.
