i have a feeling that alot of folks have interest to know these things, but dont read mainly because they have to tackle scientifically complex jargoan..

Make it simple then. I still remember reading all the volumes of children's knowledge bank in which each page was dedicated to one major discovery. Every chapter had a very simplistic explanation of the science behind the discovery, simple enough to arouse curiosity in children. I remember how it described michael faraday invented dynamo saying that all you need a constantly moving magnet inside a copper field to generate electricity. I quickly grabbed a magnet and tried to shake it inside a copper wrap expecting a 'shock'. Now I laugh about it, but the description was good enough to arouse curiosity. Its all about how you tell the story.

really?....From initial post I thought u were delving into history without delving into complicated math and calculations....

:D
i knew this would come. the "where" is related to the nationality and not individuals, and also the information was collecting from late 1850s and well documented items.

I have plenty of notes on indian science and math contributions too.

really?....From initial post I thought u were delving into history without delving into complicated math and calculations....

I am not sure whether it will turn into a discussion of satisfying egos or not.....but if one is trying truth based history, one shouldn't be bothered about fallouts from that........I would think...or who knows your establishing the truth would deflate the conquest mindsets and they would embrace the philosophy of "Vasudaika Kutumbam" and then "satisfying the egos" becomes a moot point.....

anyways, not suggesting anything......whatever rocks your boat.....

so the question is, is it possible that West got a treasure trove of scientific knowledge from ancient India?.......

there is alot of possibility to this. there were always visitors from middle eastern and china to indian monastries. and there is definite proof that some of indian origin ideas ended up in the west. Although it would have been great if the process of this learning was well documented, but unfortunately its not.

I gave up on "where" an idea is borne - as its a subject that turns discussions to satisfy egos :D

I always have this doubt, obviously with no concrete analysis. But would love to participate in this discussion and know more.

Finish it atleast part 1 ...the subject is vast so its easy to fall into the never ending loop of one more discovery, or use it as an excuse to not complete it ... but pick it up , get it to a logical point and wrap up part 1 and start the next ...dont let the work done go to waste ... even if you dont do all that scan what you have and email..would love to read ..,

And if you complete it theres enough people just here who would read it

right now prefer to re-write instead of scanning, so i can read atleast once before i decide what to do :-)

similar to reading about macro economics to me.

we are at the opposite ends of specturm MS...while I am not more into the detailed analysis of scientific inventions I always tried to look for the important events that has really changed the history of human evolution at times.

Macroeconomics is relatively a simple concept if you know the basics of mean, mode and some predictive analytics stuff with understanding of graphical representation of data

Formulated science is the most difficult one to understand...I have given it a try to go through quantum stuff other day...My mind was out of my head within no time...

PS: If you want to write a book, please elaborate each concept with uncomplicated live examples..otherwise I will boycott it

not alluding to or convinced of anything...but I think it can be looked into, as the sequence of events can lead to that possibility......

and knowing the conquer, destroy and appropriate nature and philosophy of the west.....I wouldn't rule out the possibilities.....

discoveries can happen in multiple places...as they are observable by many. It does not mean there is malice somewhere. Indian astrologers of the past have discovered quite alot of things in the past, and I have posted about those many times.

Archimedes principle - and the Eureka moment, can happen to anyone. but documentation of a principle for future generations probably did not happen. All these great construction of temples, and various other aspects of vedic cosmic studies, have been lost, it does not discount what is achieved by the west.
Also are you alluding to some sort of western conspiracy in science?

that was the idea.. when i was a kid, i found one of my dad's book.. it was a telugu book, and had stories on how certain discoveries made like.. how the benzene molecular structure was conceived, how phosphorous was discovered trying to discover philosopher's stone by evaporating urine...

i will try reading it first.. and then see if i can complete it.

i have 30 pages on wave - particle duality - "sometimes its a wave, sometiems its a particle, but not both at the same time" . why only light? waves behaving like particles? that was only the "beginning" .

After a decade long of failed attempts to truly understand the nature of light, as if to flame the fires, a french physicist , Louis de brogile published a doctoral dissertation, that essentially turned everything upside down, and said not just light, but all matter could be exhibiting the same behavior. this idea set the stage to understand the emission spectrum of heated gases, and absorption lines of cooling gases. Time to study the duality of matter.

that was the end of duality of light section

i have moved to a new place, a few months back. wanted to get rid of unnecessary books i have. i have about 500 books/notebooks/class notes that I have in boxes.

started the tedious task, and i found a notebook... titled "History of particle discovery" - this was an idea, when I was doing masters, and as a way to get through my night job.. wanted to write a book. it was about the history of scientific research, a chronlogical order of things and theories that lead to various discoveries and where we are today... book was supposed to be a "history" and not dwelve into actual scientific calculations and complicated math.

I completely forgot about it, that i attempted something like this lol... started with Plank's obsession of inventing a lamp that optimizes that output of "light" while minimizing "heat" ... have about 150 pages of rough notes, and references to books in library...

lol... cant believe how naive i was back then... based on some of the comments ...it would have given me great satisfaction if only i could have completed it...

the last few pages are about the dilemma of "Waves cannot scatter, particles cannot defract and yet electrons can do both - answering this dilemma, took the scientific study from answering strange questions to insane questions " ..

miss the library of the univesity and being a student in general
