if you want to use Anderson to strengthen your argument, you should also assess why Anderson is way too good only in 'Home' conditions. He has 370 odd wickets in 80 matches Vs 170W/55M in away conditions. I rest my case on dada. he has way too many flaws(technique etc) as a player compared to his peers in the same generation (Sachin, Dravid and other country players). Most of his peers had 10k in both versions whereas he did not. Lets stop right there. Yes, he has been a great captain. | ||

They could have adopted if they had faced the same kind of bowlers that their previous generation played. they said the same for Sachin that he could not have withstood the previous generation bowlers like Marshall, Roberts,Garner blah blah. classy...technical.....thokadia......nothing matters when it comes to contribution to scores for teams they play.....classy batting is easy on eyes....thats all.... Saed Anwar.....Inzy.....Javed.....Steven smith...alan border all had very unconventional stands and play...except for their favourite shots.....but they minted runs for their teams.... coming to DADA....he was ugly when the line was on his legs....but minted runs otherwise..... for me he is still behind Dravid when it comes to all time best run scorers at crucial times for the team..... Lofted shots kottam easy aa.. And prathi ball koduthunadaaa... Also every batsman is NOT complete... even Tendulkar and Dravid have their own set of problems during certain periods.. I don't think Tendulkar, Dada and Dravid jamana lo vunna variety of bowlers ippudu leeru.. they have good fast bowlers as well as spin in their generation to face.. Batsman need not play leg side to look classy... If you have never watched his great knocks please refer to them.. you can look at many classic shots like square drives and cover drives... He is the best against the spin.. do you think coming down to the pitch is easy... also he has used his crease many a times playing the late cuts... Tests lo thana position initial ga one down vunde... for various reasons he came down... Also his sheer determination to play again made him to make a comeback to indian team... Ganguly was never a classy batsman The prime quality of any ODI batsman including an opener is to steal a single in the middle overs by steering the ball away in between gaps Ganguly with almost zero wrist work , can not tackle classy spinners apart from coming down the track. Runs were scored , had healthy average ... that's it , keep it in the shelf ! Forget about Azhar , he can't be comparable to Dravid in ODIs The only advantage Ganguly had was, the pea brained opponent captains kept on attacking him on his stronger side... still remember a match against Pakistan in Wasim 's captaincy where he filded 7 players on the off side for Ganguly, still Ganguly hit a boundary in between them. Once after opposition started attacking him on the legs, his graph fell like any thing . A batsman who can not flick, on drive , leg glance or go for a hook still managed to reach 10k in ODIs... that's Dada! Really? Since when has a AVG of 41+ in ODIs become 'Just'? Comparisons shud always be relative within eras to get a better picture. During their era, Sachin and Sourav were one of the very few batsmen who had an Avg of more than 40 in ODIs which was considered excellent given those conditions and bowling attacks. Forget India, Sourav Ganguly was considered one of the finest ODI batsman in the world during his era. An avg of 40+ then is almost like 50+ today. Public memory seems to be short. As far as only batting goes in ODIs, he is definitely in Top 5. Kapil and Azhar both have lesser runs and avgs than him as batsmen. Sry to burst the bubble... Sourav Ganguly in ODI mode is an absolute legend.....He was jst behind Sachin during the era. He was very consistent....scored tons of runs at a really good average against good bowling attacks. More importantly, he was a big match player and scored well in the Bigger tournaments. Who can forget his surgical precision on the offside and dancing down the track to hoist sixes...
