In the mid 80s, the Government started Computerization of the banks, Insurance companies etc. In 1988, the first ATM in India was inaugurated by the then PM. The opposition parties (both BJP and Communists) at that time protested and even called for bandhs saying "Computerization and ATMs will result in job losses". Both RSS shakhas and Communist meetings oppossed ATMs saying, it will result in job losses. So everyone has thier point of view... | ||

99% of the youth did not get attracted towards extremism. Less than 1% got attracted to the radical idealogies. So yes...Congress government failed those 1% of the youth. In any country - a policy at a given point of time CANNOT satisfy all sections of the society. To some people A new Airport is development - to some other people it is a bane. To some people the advent of MNCs is development...a few others sees this as Imperialism / Foreign control The point is - unemployement results in frustration and anger...and a some of those frustrated youth get attracted to right wing or left wing idealogies - which is not good for the society. | ||

Perfectly said - rising joblessness and unemployment is the main reason for rising tensions in the society - whether it is Maratha agitations, lynchings, Kashmir issue etc. - as long as the economy is growing and creating jobs, most societal tensions can be swept under the carpet. But in the absence of jobs, pressure gets released in these manners. Now it is time to trend a hashtag i presume - #1croresjobsper year. Btw - mee Scindia madam kooda idhe cheppindi ga. There are n number of reasons to sow seeds in a fertile mind. Some of them may be genuine. But if the youth of those days got meaningful employment, they would have contributed in a positive way - maybe even spent a part of their earnings in solving the problem to a small extent. By picking up the gun - what did they achieve? So if they had been meaningfully employed, then the situation would have been different. | ||

99.99% of the naxalites were highly educated. 99.99% of the naxalites were either jobless or under-employed. If they had been properly employed, would they have joined naxalism? Maybe a few - but definitely not the majority. If you notice the extreme Right wing or leftist sympathizers, most of them are M.Phils, M.A etc. Some are even Ph.Ds. And they would be working as part time lecturers, underpaid lecturers etc. They are frustrated and and they are slowly attracted towards radical ideologies. Un-Employment and Underemployment produces anger in the society....and this anger pushes some people into embracing radical movements. | ||
