I was worried about driving in UK as it opposite to US. Make sure to rent a smaller car with automatic transmission... the roads are really narrow relative to US. It took few hours to get accustomed to road conditions, but wife was constantly alerting if I am steering off the median. Took turns to drive to keep from exhausting. Food wise there are lot of options. If you really are particular about indian food, they are available in even remote villages. Of course, most of them are owned by Bangladeshis though. Overall, people are very nice and friendly. One complaint is smoking. Everyone smokes at every place. They don;t care about families/children or any non-smokers. In that perspective, US have stricter laws against public smoking. Have fun and enjoy your trip. | ||

Hyder mia, I did UK trip last summer. Flew into London. stayed near Heathrow and took train into city. BigBus tours lo city antha hop on, hop off chesam. Two days lo maximum covered. Food was not a problem.. vegitarian ki kooda chala options unnayi. Then rented a car and drove for next 10 days. Stratford, StoneHenge, Roman Bath... I like Bath especially, very different from rest of the country. Entered Wales via Cardiff and into Snodania. Wales is wild and beautiful. BTW, Wales lo old Castles ni renovate chesi hotel ga marcharu. We stayed couple of nights at castles and felt like Kings  . Don;t miss the Conway on the way out. Back into England and stopped over Lake District. It is very similar to our Lake George area by upstate NY. Checked it off the list. Finally, into Scotland. Edinburg is old city with lots of attractions. Went all the way up to Inverness. Best part is there is Sun light even at 11pm, so had lot of time to visit places. Then drove into Scottish Highlands and stay at Isle of Skye for couple of nights. It is closest to nature we could experience, very clean & pristine. On the final leg, stopped at Fort Williams on the way to Glasgow. Returned the car and flew back from Galsgow. | ||

They serve alcohol in the pub too but it is not a bar like in India, pubs generally have good quality draught beers. Every village here has a pub Lunch served between 12-3pm while dinner served from 5-9pm, this is the only trouble with pub as restaurants are generally open till 11 pm. Pubs that serve food will also have highchairs for kids. Few restaurants serve food all day, but 9 pm food serving is closed everywhere | ||

1 week london antey..... scotland....ki there is no fun driving from london....the best part of driving in scotland is to drive in scotland and esecially highlands....so reach edinbrugh and drive from there is the suggestion......drive to Isle of skye is best from fort william..... stonehenge.....for me...is a waste of time.....unless you are into that science thing.....nothing to watch except some stone there..... british museum as someone suggested is top for sure....and same with vitoria and albert.....and natural history --if you are into museums food wise..loads of indian restaurants......if you are specific with ratings....then google for ratings......like Michelin starred ones.....otherwise...in general....fine.. short trips away.....my fav would be to drive to Cambridge and spend some time there......university and sorroundings are nice walk.... most of all.....as with all european cities......prepare to walk......its wonderful and would be surprised of what you can watch when you walk.... My suggestion in walking trip would be......cut the usual....famous places and get into old style london..... Tower bridge - st katherine docks - butler;'s wharf -- and towards greenwich on a boat ride.....royal observatory in greenwich.....would cover adults and kids interests...... Last but not least......our own CCDB favourite pub (courtesy Kondaveti)....'the Banker' on the shore of river thames.....to feel a london pub.....if you are interested.... over to other londoners...... London is awesome for all the free museums - Victoria and Albert, British Musuem, Tate Modern, Museum of Natural History and my favourite - National Portrait Gallery. Each of these can take you half a day. If you want to save time, directly go to rooms 41-46 in the Portrait Gallery. Victoria and Albert has a fascinating Indian section that is a must watch. | ||
