Rahul:initial setup is very costly ,one of the reasons for very poor adoption rate
expensive in USA also right ? But we have zero down options Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresea, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein |

Uno:
agreed on few points but prices have come down in last 1-2 years Are there anyone in India who is offering zero down and pay as you go models like in USA ? If not, that may be good idea to start Don't say you don't have enough time. It is not successful in India cos of reliability and cost. A typical home needs around 1 KW unit .The set up cos is for 1 KW is around Rs.1 to 1.25 lakhs( over 35 solar panels) You need space for solar panels and have to do maintenance .Moreover you can not rely 100% on solar power on cloudy days and nights. So you also need electricity connection as standby It is not worth the hassle, cos you can deposit the money in bank and the interest will cover most part of the ectricty bill |

Until couple of years ago everyone was talking about setting up solar power plants in India. Govt was also giving contracts to buy power at decent rate. Now rates have come down to Rs 2-3 and it is not profitable anymore for new comers Lot of schools, corps have adapted solar power but almost negligible adaptation for residential use Some high end villa's are coming with solar as standard / upgraded feature Govt is giving subsidies but lot of restrictions to avail the same There is huge potential for residential use but someone need to find a way to commoditize it Did anyone explore or have any contacts in this industry?
