Here's a sample Base salary: 30,00,000 INR per year It comprises two components - Basic Salary - around 47-48% and then remaining allowances. Normally you choose how you want your allowances structured. Your employer's PF contribution is included in this allowances. In addition you are getting a bonus based on your performance and the group/company's performance. It is about 25-30% of your base salary. (For the 30L salary bracket - 7.5L is the bonus) Then there is an On-Hire Stock Award: You will probably get this (Average - based on the 30L use case) - for 10K USD worth of stocks. (If you negotiate well, you can get much much more than that. But let us just look at the usual numbers) Gratuity - Component is not paid to you but is available in case you end up working for the company for more than five years? (Need to check this) In addition, you may get a car allowance of - let us say 2,00,000 INR per annum. Normally they bundle this in your take home pay. (You pay taxes as usual). You can also opt for a company car and forego allowance. That's pretty much it I guess. The bonus which is about 25 to 30 percent of your base salary will have a further division - 25% on individual performance, 75% company performance etc. This is the basic stuff.
