I agree with you.Problem with doctors in US is they are afraid to suggest beyond any guidelines even though they are aware it is right.They are afraid of legal issues. Everytime I go for check up,my doctor will say to do 150 mts of physical activity per week, eat more fruits,less fat,use vitamin D etc., which is the same record from last 5 years. It does not mean they are not aware of the things, only they do not want to prescribe anything out of guidlines. Use of Statins is the most dangerous thing.First point I dont understand how statin usage will help anyone.Infact there are studies that reveal usage of statins increase the chances of getting Diabetes. | ||

Strictly speaking, I wouldn't necessarily worry about cholesterol over 200 if you have high HDL, but I do think that it is a red flag, and would recommend you run some better tests to get a more complete idea of what's going on.
