Second that. Huskies need a lot of exercise and attention. No wonder they are top breed in missing dogs list. They are exploratory, survival instincts and dependency on pack are very rigid. You need to bring a lot to the table before you adopt them. | ||

They are great - we are not sure we could handle a big dog.. I know someone who got a husky- but struggled to keep up with its activity needs We thought of labradoodle or cockapoo or swedish vallhund (not easy to get).. we saw cockapoos, labradoodles close... and more than us our puppy picked us (he escaped from his display pen and came running to us) | ||

We got our dogs when we were in apartment. Make sure they are pet friendly building and choose the breed wisely based on how much time you can spend on their exercise, medical expenses and how much barking you can tolerate. I see people abandoning pets because of their size, barking and maintenance and feel that it should be a crime by law for their irresponsibility. We don't abandon our unruly kids...sigh! Do your homework and see that your family is up for the commitment. My brother was all ready to get a dog until he saw us spend $17,000 with in a span of 3 days for vet bills and MRI's when our dog had a slipped disc. After all these warnings, I will admit that we are very lucky to have them in our lives. It's true contentment. | ||

check with appt mgmt dogs allowed ? what is max size/wt they allow dogs breeds are different some need more than 1 hr moderate to rigorous activity per day...some are okay with 30 mins avg activity some need a yard some are good for apt some are kid/ppl friendly...some needed to taught a lot to be friendly basic gaa you decide....1-2 hrs per day....maa ashburn laa ippudu so many desi dog parents in last 2 yrs #ECEC | ||

great, nice to see that you went the extra mile and got him here my dog's breeder maintains an FB group to keep in touch one story from last week one military family got overseas posting...they packed everything two dogs...united waaditho anni formalities complete chesaaru airport kee vellaka, no annaru ... as their travel is through work, they had no option but to leave dogs with friends ...they wont be back to states until 3 more years | ||

Glad to hear you are reunited. The distance is very hard on them. Memu India trips velladam ippudu kastam aipoindi, because of their age we don't want to leave them with dog sitters and go. So, one of us is always here taking care, while the other one takes the kid and goes. I remember when they were around 5 years old and we went to India. They dragged the dog sitter to the garage and made him open both cars and checked inside out and walked back inside the home with sad faces. Another incident which moved us, when my parents left to India after 6 month visit. He was used to sitting with my mom on the sofa watching TV during afternoon. The next day around that time, he scooped her saree from the dirty laundry and dragged it to the sofa and slept on it coiled. My mom was moved when we sent that picture. Fortunately both our parents and in-laws are dog lovers too. They both understand that we are going out when we get the luggage out. So, they get all depressed. So, we usually have to secretly pack and hide till the last minute. My parents dog peed on a safari suitcase to show his resentment when my dad was half way through packing. | ||

I am having a hard time admitting their lifespan myself. My spouse even gets angry when I disclose their age to someone....lol. We all function in denial mode when it comes to loved ones. I first understood how terrible death is, when I lost our parents dog during my late teens. Up till then I didn't experience the real loss that death brings. Although, I saw our families going through it (grandparents and uncle's death. It was a lot of emotion to learn and grow from. We got both our boys when we got married and had a kid after 5 years. So, they saw our kid growing up. So, the dynamics are different from kid getting a pup. Our kid is 8 years old and understanding the concept of death. She encountered it with our neighbors cat. She cried a lot and still mourning for our neighbors cat who was very friendly with her and played a lot. It's overwhelming how she can articulate her feelings compared to me when I was a teen. She misses the cat and now slowly understands the concept of life cycle. She says she's not ready to accept it yet and doesn't want our dogs to go through it. We all try to enjoy and celebrate what life brings. We are so grateful for our pets, they teach us so much with all the unconditional love and tolerance. | ||

Cant get enough of my lab - ceasar He's overweight partially because of my fault . Now i am taking it for running every morning . To beat the heat waking up at 6 and taking it for a run at 6:30 .. It almost takes me 20 mins to wake him up as he behaves literally like us . Doesn't want to wake up , even after waking up goes to another bedroom and sleeps while i get ready with his treats and poop bag ... We miss their puppyhood They are so silly and energetic. One of them has severe arthritis and cataracts, so can't see well and has an senile attitude. It's like dealing with old parents...lol. | ||

ours is crazy (ofcourse he is a puppy).. we took him to vet for a check up - he went bonkers.. went after everyone everything jumping etc.. nonstop.. so we sat in doc waiting room.. I noticed through his fuzzy mop of hair that his eye (including pupil) was extremely red.. we got worried and asked vet to check it out.. doctor said its nothing the dude is over excited and it got his blood pumping | ||

We are in the Bay Area and earthquakes are common here and most of the times everybody sleep through it as they are tiny tremors. One of our dogs gets so restless and wakes us up and the other one doesn't even bother lifting his eyes. | ||
