Asalu frank ga innallu 100% electricity ki access lekapovadam mana country ki sigguchetu!

This is no feat to be proud of...we did something which had to be done 30 years ago.

Let us not congratulate ourselves for this but try to have better benchmarks to feel proud about.

Oka country ki inni years 100% electrification ledhu ante - it is a bigger fault of Congress as they ruled the country for the longest time. And we are not even taking about 24 hrs electricity to every household, it is just being connected to a grid..

Lenin:

look at the power infra investment chart...it has got a big boost during UPA - 1 & 2 regimes

But talking good about UPA1 and 2 is not fashionable.
Power Generation & Financing as a sector got a big boost in the early 90s.
New Telecom Policy by BImal Jalan and Acharya Mrityunjaya was formulated in mid 90s.

but we are only interested in what the sold out TV channels show us.If they say India was living in the dark before 2014, then so be it !

This does not mean that everyone is using electricity.

Still there is a good 25% gap in the usage of power mate...

look at the power infra investment chart...it has got a big boost during UPA - 1 & 2 regimes
Guntur, Hyderabad, Andhra, Telangana, Tamilnadu, Karnataka first....India last!!!

Something that every true Indian should be proud of....
In 1947, less than 5% of the villages had electricity....and in 70 years for a country the size of India - achieved 100% electrification.

And other than the numbers game - anything above 95% is as good as 100%- as the last 5 % may not be anything more than just small tribal hamlets which are seasonal.

Countries which achieved Independence at the approximately the same time and had better infra compared to India like Uganda etc are lagging behind these basic development indices - thanks to the sagacity of the founding fathers who laid a strong foundation for India.

Bushu:

This comes in the backdrop of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day speech on 15 August 2015 promising to electrify all un-electrified villages within 1000 days. The scheme will also help improve Indias per capita power consumption of around 1,200 kWh which is among the lowest in the world.

Bushu:

Modi should celebrate this by rewarding electricity board linemen of every state; invite the power ministers, CMs and ex-PMs to a gala event. This is a 'significant' milestone in India's history.

Bushu:

The thread is 'congrats to India' not 'congrats to Modi'. This is result of efforts of multiple leaders and people over the last 70 years. Modi gave it the final push with great urgency.

ok sir thread is just about "Congrats to India" no promotion to modiya

Pappu is bigger Hindu than Modi...

A big scare during a flight last week has pushed Rahul Gandhi to decide on a pilgrimage. His destination is Kailash Manasarovar, a lake in Tibet Autonomous Region of China, considered the abode of Lord Shiva, the deity venerated by the Congress chief.

Still a very big deal. Konni remote villages ki power line veyyagalagatame herculean task. First half of the job done.
Second half andariki power. andaru meters ki apply cheyyatam, supply ivvatam will take some time.
Bigger task will be to give continuous power.

REALLY REALLY BIG ACHIEVEMENT for INDIA! It is SHAME that it took this many years, but BETTER LATE THAN NEVER.

I WANT TO SEE another ACHIEVEMENT (actually more pressing than this) in INDIA, TOILET in EVERY HOUSE, there should be NO ONE in a condition for lack of access to TOILET. Hope to see this also soon.

BTW, Both Congress and BJP deserves credit for today's achievement.

The villages electrified since 2006 are like this, data from the govt itself.

FY06 9819
FY07 28706
FY08 9301
FY09 12056
FY10 18374
FY11 18306
FY12 7934
FY13 2587
FY14 1197
FY15 1405
FY16 7108
FY17 6015

Average no. of villages electrified from 2006-2014 - 12030
Average no. of villages electrified from 2014- 4250

Bhakts - Malla sankalu guddukondi, vinapadatledhu.

That apart, hope you guys even know what electrification means - as long as 10% of a villages gets electricity, the village is considered to have electricity. We don't give a damn about the rest.

>> According to the government data, all of India’s 597,464 census villages have been electrified. This assumes importance given that at the onset of Rs75,893 crore DDUGJY for village electrification under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, there were 18,452 un-electrified census villages. During the project work it was found out that an additional 1275 villages also didn’t have electricity access. As of 28 April, all these villages have got electricity access either through the national grid or off grid solutions. Also, 1,236 villages are uninhabited and 35 have been notified as grazing reserves.

“We are just absolutely thrilled, excited and delighted. We have fulfilled our mandate, our promise and the work allotted to us by the government and the honourable Prime Minister,” P.V. Ramesh, chairman and managing director, REC told Mint.

This comes in the backdrop of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day speech on 15 August 2015 promising to electrify all un-electrified villages within 1000 days. The scheme will also help improve India’s per capita power consumption of around 1,200 kWh which is among the lowest in the world.

After 70 years of Independence and small/big contributions by countless people everywhere over time, new age India is shaping up.

>> All Indian villages now have access to electricity. The last village to be brought on the national power grid was Leisang village in the Senapati district of Manipur at 5.30pm today
