MRIs are connected to a central server. When we say connected cars - it does not mean cars are connected to each other :-) Volvo using 5G network (Telenor+ Ericsson test launch) is transmitting the driving conditions of the car/bus, to another server whcih also has the real time GPS data. And edcisions are taken on this server. Like wise the data from all the others cars is transmitted to this server. This works because of the speed of 5G....will not work on 4G | ||

Heavy duty medical devices like MRI devices also can be used- they are embedded with Industrial SIM cards. The reading / image is through the embedded SIM, transmitted via an operator network like MTN in Africa, Verizon in US to a target "device" - where a WFM tool assigns this to the available doctor based on workload or skills. The doctor can be anyone - someone the patient explcitly requested or some one among a battery of doctors. Commercial use - Health Insurance + Telecom oeprators are selling this on top of your normal Telecom services. The health service is modelled as an offer and activated in the billing contract of the subscriber. And instantiated everytime the device reading is done. MSISDN of the subscriber is mapped to the device ID for identification. | ||

Why write the report? And to prepare the report - you need the MRI or the device data in the form of readings to be sent to the Doctor. So imagine - a small center without doctor but just measure the readings of the patient - and these are in real time uploaded to the central server via a Telecom operator's network which is omni present today (NOT a specific Internet connection) - and guidance - That is the simplistic form of "connected Devices"! Extrapolate this - The readings are transmitted in real time - A doctor among a battery of doctors remotely accesses this - and prescribes the next set of actions which is in real time transmitted to the patient's phone, tablet - another device. this is already happening! | ||

Getting the MRI readings connected was possible even before that, when it was called as M2M - an Industrial SIM card was embedded in the machine. In 2015, the launch for mass market happened for BP reading machines connected without the need for an embedded SIM card. Verizon+BaseN +Ericsson in US Orange+BadeN+Ericsson in France. Today this is what IOT, digital Services is about. Healthcare is just one vertical! | ||
