India is a heterogeneous society and it needs both Socialism & Capitalism. There are million of people who do not know where they will get thier next meal from. Same time there are the most richest people in the world living in India! All ideologies have to come together and work for the larger society. Trying to kill one ideology or wiping out the Opposition is the last thing India needs. Post Liberalization the best Governments have come from minority coalitions. 1. 1991- PVN - Manmohan Singh 2. 1996- IK Gujral - Chidambaram 3. 2004- MMS - Chidambaram - Pranab Whenever a single party got more seats like in 2009, the quality of governance went down. A single party getting majority like in 2014 - has resulted in disaster. | ||

I pity people who still feel that they are any different from the Congress. And people who are chest beating about Tripura victories are missing the bus - Indira ruled the country for 17 years and Congress literally dominated every state and centre, but she destroyed the country. Winning elections is not the same thing as good governance and taking the country forward. For the BJP, winning elections is the end goal. We lost a golden opportunity to take the country forward in a gloroius time for the world economy and next few years are going to be tough as things are going to tighten up globally and we have already missed the bus. | ||

I have no love for the ideological or economic moorings of Left - but we have to give credit where it is due - whether it is Kerala or Tripura, the great social indicators are due to the Left Rule. In Tripura, literacy rate is 95% and stunting in children is less than 10% (same number is 42% in Gujarat). And it is because of the left that many of the economic or industrial policies that we now take for granted came into fruition - whether it is a 6/5 day week, insurance policies, healthcare for employees, PF etc. Left to the capitalists all by themselves - factory workers would be slaving their butt off in pathetic industrial conditions.
