chinki gallu 50% buddhists...now don't argue there are vegetarians...they eat everything that crawls and moves

not all buddhists are monks... i mean all followers may not be strictly adhere to a monk's lifestyle.

Emc2:

please post more,

to answer your dilemma ...

Buddha and monks do not have the privilege of choice when it comes to food. they just have to make do with what was being donated as long as that food was lawful and moral in the place.

Most monks living in remote villages in the himalayas routinely eat frogs, snails, grasshoppers and anta, whatever the locals eat and donate.

Monks encourage everyone to be vegetarian, but by no means make a choice for themselves and others.

Emc2:

Buddha consumer whatever was given as alms to him, however good tasting, bad tasting, stale, meat, veg did not matter. he does not kill another being for food, at the same time, he would not even grow his own food, even if it were completely vegetarian.

He would not accept food that had meat, specifically prepared for him.

But there are forbidden meats, like dogs, horses, elephants, snakes, and some violent animals... i cant recollect the reason... will post if it comes to me.
