MADRAS was capital of a state called MADRAS state which consisted of ANDHRA+MADRAS (So the city was in the middle of the state)! Than when the states got divided MADRAS remained capital of TN even though it suddenly became like total north of the state as it was a very very developed city even from all INDIA perspective! Coming to now divided AP if VIZAG was made the capital two things would not go very well! For many decades KRISHNA+GUNTUR belt thinks they are the revenue generating districts when when state was combined too and that was very true leaving cities of HYD and VIZAG (Both VIZAG/HYD had all the central institutions located apart of HYD adding IT too)! So, KRISHNA+GUNTUR belt which was ACTUALLY neglected for long even though they were helping state's finances is NOT FAIR! And the next is the location....AP is like a inverted CONE with VIZAG almost at the tip of this cone! VIZAG capital ante oka CHITTOOR or ANANTHAPUR vaadu oka 800+ Kilometers povatame pani unte! Take BANGALORE...even though city is to the south if you take northern most city in KARNATAKA GULBARGA the distance to BANGALORE is some 600-625KM!
