Today my daughter asked me about Goa Inquistion. I told her that I don't know about it. Basically she heard about this from the Hindu Chaplin in her University and then she read about it on the internet. She was furious about the lies that were written in the history (official records show ONLY 57 people died during Goa Inquisition in the 300 years of Portuguese ruling of Goa). She thinks its blatant lies as 57 execution during 300 years is unbelievably low by any standards. She heard of about history written by White people (Europeans) showing their generosity/benevolance/greatness EXAGGARATED and their BRUTALITY much less than the original extent that had happend, but now she believes it to be SO TRUE. I felt ashamed not knowing about Goa Inquisition when she asked me. It is surprising realization for me that how little I know about Indian history. |
