o just bonuses. Walmart is also looking into increasing minimum wage to $11 from $10.

yep. i never understood the democrats concept that it fills somebody pocket. when business income is distributed to personnel income, it gets taxed. what does business do with surplus funds. they have to do something how is that negative. unless you are a free loader and thinks govt should pay for all your needs, everybody thinks cutting taxes is a good way.

into corner

nope. never does that. I am just trying to get clarification from you. i am not interested to search your posts and bring where you said, history shows tax cuts goes to investors pockets not to economy, employees blah blah.

bottomline, More than 100 companies are giving this.
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/over-100-companies-giving- trump-bonuses-after-tax-victory-tsunami-building/article/264 4944

it just happened after tax reform. You can comfort yourselves saying they would have done this way irrespective of tax reform but know the truth in heart.

none of the companies are non-profit so eventually shareholder pockets some money which they will invest in some other business fuelling growth. that's the cycle of development moves on.

i am only against your belief that federal government uses that money better than the companies who produced that income.

for the last 200 years, country after country proved that government enforced economies don't survive.

that's a good thing. I am happy for them. I wish they make it atleast $15 after all the billions they are going to add to their bottom line from the corporate tax cuts!!

There are some programs these $10 employees use today that will get scrapped. It's ok. Taking away govt. dependency is good thing. But will it offset the raise in spend is a border question. It's always the proportionality that is in question.

windfall from tax reduction does not result in any benefit to employees or jobs ani selavicharu.

one more thing .. that was not what I said. You have a funny way of pushing me into corner which supports your agenda.
Historically , it is not significant is what I said. The proportionally of trickle will not be significant.
Oka dollar kuda Radhu annavu.. idhigo two dollars ante nenemi cheppedhi?!
We can discuss politics of this in another thread, if you can start it

This is what Tim Cook said when asked if the investment was result of tax reform

"Let me be clear, there are large parts of this that are a result of the tax reform, and there's large parts of this that we would have done in any situation," Cook said.

The way I read it.
Repartriation - Result of tax reform. I have to pay tax anyway, I might as well get in stable currency
Rest - we would have done anyway , because demand dictates

Ee kaburlu kemi kaani me experience lo windfall from tax reduction does not result in any benefit to employees or jobs ani selavicharu. Only stockholders benefit ani telcharu. Companies aCroos USA are giving bonuses and offering some training/jobs etc.

Propaganda !??
Walmart ichina 250millions bonus credit meedhe.. mari Walmart cut chesina 250 million( thru sam's closure) evaridhi??
AT&T ichina bonus aa credit lo vasthe, one year back nunchi union cheisna negotiations mata enti

I insisted we put politics aside, it gets muddy

Foreign cash repatriate cheyyatam valla invest chestharu ante that is not valid. Just dollars lo ledhni investments apestharaa?? Bonus appesthara?? Demand drives investment..not dollar cash on hand.. don't you think they can generate loan for operating expenses. In fact that is what they generally do.
that cash is existing . It is their’s . Any impact will be marginal . The benefit is the tax they generate ..adhi vachinake 1.5 trillion deficit vuntadhi. So it very much required that money comes in for this tax plan to work

Jobs okkati kooda venakki radu ani balla guddi predict chesare...

ee mata cheppenthe knowledge and experience naku ledhu, Brother!

My point is simple. Cost effectiveness and availability drives the labor pool. Mana Chetilo 100 $ ekkuva vunantha matrana , 10$ ki aye pani 20$ ki ivvam kadha. There should be some other factor driving that .
Apple adding jobs has nothing to do with cash moving in. They will not add x jobs , if that does not generate y net income. Cash in India/cash in us will not make big difference .

It is to do with other factors. Demand growth and economy etc. I don't know what they are.

Na perspective idhi( don't read any politics , pure economical position)

Apple will invest, if ROI justification is there. The cash in dollar or rupee(say for example) will not make any difference . They are still sitting on 300bn cash which ever currency it is. The company debt to asset will not get significantly impacted. They will have same leverage as of today!!

This latest move will only make them convert their cash into stable currency and give tax income US( badly needed to fill in the revenue tax deficit corporate tax cuts will create).

Second point is us economy is booming , country has been operating at full employment for almost 18 months. So any demand created will neccesiate workforce increase . Generally this means wage inflation. If economic conditions prevail, we should be seeing increase in salaries ( or it could also mean increase in foreign workers)

All these recent moves will make corporate profitable. But one thing I am not sure, inspite of all this, is if it change cost effectiveness equation. What will offset or bridge the gap between cost of labor overseas vs cost of labor in US? Tax?

The company said Wednesday that it will pay $38 billion in taxes on cash it has been keeping overseas. It also pledged to create 20,000 jobs and invest $30 billion in U.S. facilities over the next five years.

The $38 billion tax payment from bringing home overseas profits "would likely be the largest of its kind ever made," Apple said in a press release.

New U.S. tax rules mean companies like Apple can no longer avoid paying taxes on past international profits by holding the cash outside the United States. They must pay tax whether they bring the money back to the country or not.
