my point is, its not a 'south' vs 'north' issue......Kerala, Kar, Guj, MH benefited from 13th to 14th....while UP, BIhar share reduced......we don't know what will happen from 14th to 15th unless we know the weightage to various parameters. Kerala & Karnataka got more share compared to 13th commission even after including the 2011 parameter. AP & TN got reduced share. UP, Bihar also got reduced. MH, Guj share increased. If 15th commission depends completly on 2011 population, that does not mean a guaranteed reduction for South. It depends on the weightage given to population and on parameters other than population. New TORs also include fertility rate, fiscal prudence etc. | ||

Worse than this - certain Govt. posts are reserved for people with local language skills for e.g. Post Man. After the new Govt. came into power, mass copying is being encouraged in exam centers of MP,Haryana, UP and now Bihar. I beg to differ. The concept of Social welfare applies to citizens and not to states. The so called poor states were not poor states about 30 years back. The disparity between the South and North increased in the last 30/35 years and this coincided with 1. Liberalization started in mid eighties and kick started again in 91 was embraced by the Southern states. 2.Rise of Mandal and Kamandal politics in cow belt from late Eighties So why should the Southern states where the focus was by and large on Investments, Industries etc pay for the folly of the northern states? Idhoka typical Northern argument.... Lets get back into history.....Traditionally, Northerners have always been at war against invaders for the simple reason they had the borders. And long back, they fought primarily to protect their own land from foreign invaders just like Southern empires fought against the same invaders like Mughals once the Northerners were defeated. Lets just say, they were traditionally more inclined to war due to their inevitable frequency and hence more aggressive than their southern counterparts. This resulted in more warrior clans from North. This eventually continued post independence too as the stock of soldiers was more readily available there than South. Southerners meanwhile contributed to the society in their own meaningful way in terms of education and wealth creation. So based on the above, how can one judge Southerners when the history of conflict itself was relatively much lesser? Also, there are enough brave regiments today participating from South in the Army. No one in the country does anyone else a favour. Everyone has their role to play. It's only fair that everyone gets an equal share of wealth ultimately. | ||

Sensing these tectonic shift in demographics, Bob had suggested that we should have more kids in AP. Of course this is not rocket science to see the stark numbers in front of us. But morons criticised that too based on party affiliations. Just like some of the developed countries, we have to start giving subsidies for breeding. The familiar counterargument here is that, poverty and unemployment is still rampant in the southern states too, and adding to the population will not solve anything. Well what people don't get under this revised formula is that a poor guy is rewarded more than a poor guy in the South. If I am generating 100 in taxes, I would rather give it to 1 poor guy in the south than 3 poor guys in the cow belt. | ||

When the Southern states want to utilise a greater share of their tax receipts to grow their infrastructure, we will be forced to fund the inefficiencies and incompetencies of others. So instead of letting some states progress as per their own economic plan and social demographics, we want to the reduce all states to the state lowest common denominator |
