hmmm... immigration girl said, the terminology for one year was "shall" be granted. But, the link says "may" for 1 year extensions also. H-1B status under this provision may be granted in one-year increments until the labor certification or I-140 is denied. If the labor certification or I-140 is approved, the individual can continue obtaining 1-year extensions thereafter, until an adjustment of status or immigrant visa application is either denied or approved. 1 year extension only if PERM or I140 pending for more than a year. There is enough ambiguity in the law which Trump can use to deny all extensions after six years. | ||

Watch ImmigrationGirl explanation on this. Administration can do anything they want. But, without congress involvement, the worst that can happen with this "may" interpretation is - we may NOT get 3 years extensions. but, we will get 1 year extensions.
