No no. Bee's wings oscillate and rotate such a way that they creat a vortex kind of like in twister movie. Or a tornado. First theory was based on payload calculations to calculate take off energy required in one direction for using force created by flapping wings with downwards pressure. Later studies revealed how wings create low pressure above their bodies. That low pressure keeps the bodies afloat. | ||

That was a misconception from 1940s(!). Has been explained later. Those calculations were linear. Dynamic application changed the theory. They don't fly like aeroplanes but like helicopters or drones. | ||
