using the calculator, for a 120" image you could place projector at 16 feet maximum. You are almost there with a longer power cord. On downside is, farther you mount projector, lower the brightness of image.

My suggestion, just bite the bullet and have an outlet installed on ceiling at 10 feet. That gives much brighter image with any projector.

yep, thank you

so take it as 17 ft between projector intended mount and screen.

what's the distance you have from screen to current mount position by the wall?

wall to wall 18+ ft, screen comes 6 inches from the wall and say projector i wanted to mout say 6 inches from the opp wall..so take it as 17 ft between projector intended mount and screen.

"the place I want to mount" antunnav ante, inka install avvaledu. Do you have option to move back from screen? If so, that helps.

moving away from screen increases the size.i wanted it close to the opp wall on the ceiling and give a power supply at the top using power bridge option.
that way no ugly wires in the ceiling. but now i have to move closer to screen, say 3/4th away from screen and 1/4th away from wall. Now i have to thinkg of power supply in ceiling or run the wire from ceiling to wall's power supply and cover that..looks like i have to live with that second option.

Maverick:

i have nt mounted the projector, but the place i want to mount, the image is larger than 120. zoom in zoom out doesnt help to bring every thing back into 120. since i have to upgrade anyway, looking at a projector that can give me the flexibility to attain a fixed screen size irresoective of location

Back to original question, there is no such thing as fixed screen size irrespective of location.... because, it defeats the concept of light and puts restriction on projector's features.

There are short-throw and long-throw projectors. If you don't have enough throw distance and must place projector close to screen & still want bigger projector, them go for short-throw projector. Long-throw projector is just the opposite, which allows you to mount projector farther from screen. Zoom adjustment should be used for fine tuning only.

so earlier i was projecting to a white wall and took whatever screensize i got. only adjusted zoom. i now have a tv and screen on same wall, screen rolls over tv as needed and its fixed 120. i have nt mounted the projector, but the place i want to mount, the image is larger than 120. zoom in zoom out doesnt help to bring every thing back into 120. since i have to upgrade anyway, looking at a projector that can give me the flexibility to attain a fixed screen size irresoective of location

Mav,

If you are fixed at the mount location, then you could zoom in/out using the lens on projector to adjust the image size. But, you could only do so much, depending on the lens & throw distance.

Ideally, I would set the lens to "normal" and position the projector for "normal" throw distance. In you care, your screen size if fixed and position is fixed, so lens is the only variable to play with.
