Right. One thing to add is that pixel phones have hdr+ enabled to begin with. It takes different exposure pictures and combines them to give exemplary low light pictures. Processing different exposures is superior in pixel phones. HD uses iphone 7 and I use pixel XL. She prefers the vibrant pics on my phone. Big win for pixel. |

Pixel Resolution is just half the story of late. Bigger Pixel count doesn't yield better photos necessarily. In fact many are even using the same Sony sensors. Sensor Size, Aperture, Image Stabilization and most importantly, 'Image Processing Software' can do wonders to photos. Biggest example is the Pixel 2. It has a regular 12 MP with the same aperture as Note 8 and IPX. It also has a single lens as opposed to their dual ones. However, it is doing magic in its Image Processing. Once you shoot in Auto mode, the software does it best to refine the picture which are frankly better than our own talents. So, nowadays, it has become a race of who has got the best 'Image Processing Software' to give best photos. Google's AI based on Machine Learning is edging out others in this regard. It is so damn good, it is creating Artificial Bokehs with a single lens which are nearly as good as the Dual Ones on IPX and Note8. Bottomline Ranks after having seen atleast 50 comparisons: Still Images: 1. Google Pixel 2 2. Iphone X 3. Samsung Note 8 Videos: 1. Iphone X 2. Google Pixel 2 3. Samsung Note 8 The above 3 are the absolute best with others like HTC, LG, Huawei, Sony etc not being too far behind. Its a pity to note that Sony is masterclass in Mirrorless Cameras...but it isn't able to beat the best when it comes to Smart Phone Photography despite having the best hardware. Answer again is 'Image Processing'. |
