Mana Gods ni teesukunte - most of them are kings or royal folks. Though there is an attempt to resonate with the common man by making those kings suffer at some stage in their life, they are by definition and design - royal. Contrast that with Jesus Christ - who is at the opposite end of the spectrum. I guess this is why people are able to relate to Christianity and gravitate towards them - especially poor people - because they kind of identify with that God. I get it that Siva is basically an undertaker of sorts. Still, the way he is projected - he has that aura around him and he sits on Mount Kailash - on the top of the world and is every bit divine as possible. Not sure how Prophet Mohammed is portrayed - at what level in the society. I believe he was also dirt poor. So who is the dirt poor form of God in Hinduism? (Discounting Saibaba of course who is a controversial addition to our list of Gods and it is a whole different discussion) |
