Depends on the app being used to cast. For example, if you start casting a youtube video, You can take the phone away from home network (Turn off wifi or step away from home), it will continue to cast because it casts from youtube server itself. But if you cast the phone screen using screencast, it needs phone to be on wifi. | ||

if you have android phone you can cast the entire phone screen on the TV. How is that useful?? well parties appudu you can cast live video on the TV.... or you can do "fruit ninja" competition or something. | ||
