He is a genius and his CV is very highly placed in external affairs category. But as Doraveerachakra rightly pointed Mr Tharoor, like many big brains in congress evwnthough well educated and are brainy but still are in wrong party for wrong causes. After so many placements in external affairs when he moved to political career he unfortunately had chosen Congress (of course BJP was also not agggresive and positive in defending their stance towards hinduthva, as it is now, at that time) Congress has many educated and well spoken (especially in english) personalities. But the overall effect of these brains are nullified by the effectiveness of the party/family heads' policies. As Discoveringself and Ipc302 pointed rigbtly he is a great orator and speaks wonderfully in english. But that can be only useful to get platform on some popular english news channels and hence can be considered as intellectual. But in effectiveness these kind on people are no use to country currently. Unfortunately we still are in mindset that knowing english itself is some sort of intellectualism and knowledge. It's just a language. We give too much importance to english language and fair skin even after English are gone. There are many people who are working better (than him) on the same subject. His motive and interest is more on his book tour as pointed by Lichtenberg. I don't doubt his patriotism though. | ||
