Wow damn...was not expecting such a bipolar reaction ...eppudu lenidi movie review raaste itlane vuntademo... Just a clarification...when i said 'kids' I didnt mean actual minor aged children...no...children MUST NOT watch this movie... As for the movie affecting youth's behavior, I stick to my conviction...Movies are reflections of the society, but society is not the reflection of movies...it never was and it never will be...masses harassing women after watching idiot movie, or gulabi movie etc examples ichinavariki oka question...do you guys believe that those masses would have never harassed women if these movies were never made? Having said that, I dont think the director has glorified AR's character in the movie...he showed how deplorable a human's life can get in to if he loses discretion and acts solely on instincts...AR gets banished from the house by his father, gets beaten up by his brother, gets distanced by his GF, loses his licence to practice his medicine, lives on the roads like a beggar etc....he suffers...and thats what the director showed...unlike in regular movies where hero harasses heroine and is shown as part of his normal ethics...AR is not and should not be a youth icon at all...his fall of character should be a learning lesson...I think that is the take home message here...anthe kaani director never showed that its OK to take drugs in case of failure...at least I didn't get such impression from the movie. not every movie need to be preachy.... this film is much less dangerous than any other commercial telugu cinema. heroines ni objectify cheyadam, excessive show of cleavage, sleezy comments cheyadam... cheap & vulgar comedy, unhealthy comedy like srinu vaitla doing comedy on pottodu etc... these have already degraded our society & its negative impact is much more deep. I referred to the climax....after he marries the heroine....not when he meets her. Wat abt those who dont get the girl eventually? It wud hav been great to show the Hero havin remorse and resolve to come out of his drug/alcohol abuse after losing his medical license. End of the day, you dont want youth to get into drugs for watever damn reason. Even if they do, try to showcase its negative effects on lives and how coming out of it shall be for the betterment of everyone's lives. In the name of bold movies, you wouldnt want to make a film on a R@pist and how he escaped scot free despite his many crimes. | ||

If thts a barometer....u'd be pleasantly surprised at the number of weak kids in our state... In our societies atleast....movies hav always played an important role in inspiring cults and there are massive number of youth getting motivated by their icons. There are thousands right now who wud do anything tht Pawan Kalyan does or asks them to do. End of the day, movie makers hav a responsibility understanding the impact they can create. On one hand millions of parents and kids are struggling with drug abuse and on the other hand we have Arjun Reddy, an iconic youth Hero who resorts to blatant drug and alcohol abuse just because he has a break up. And the only time he stops is when he gets the girl. So its cool to take to drugs if things dont pan out your way? If all we hav to do is show potray grey characters in name of reality in movies....our news channels are more than enough. | ||

After all the hoopla doopla, watched the movie few days ago. Plot - Maharshi + Ded V rehash...age old story of a spoiled, self-centric, ego-maniacal albeit talented D'bag who doesn't give a single fcuk about his family friends and career...and thats why its a refreshing plot. Its not just the rawness, but the movie completely shattered the tradition that the protagonist character needs to be flawless...in fact every other character in the movie i.e. his GF (musch stronger than him), friends, brother, father, except may be that amith fella was 'better' in character...there are several plotholes though, but can be forgiven except may be the ending which was pretty crappy I think...people of that extreme nature either dont survive long or learn their lessons (as in DevD) so the ending should have been different...people like shiva are non-existent to extremely rare. Vijay D - Outstanding...10/10 no need to say more...the last time I saw such a natural performance which comes close was probably Raviteja in idiot and chiru in gangleader...from top of my mind...rest of the actors are below avg to avg. Youth connected to movie because most men in 20s are just like that...especially talented ones...full of energy, stupidity, confused but skilled... IS it another shiva? big NO. Shiva was a complete package with almost zero flaws...great music, great acting by other characters like raghuvarana, Bharani, sudhakar, amala etc. But this movie solely depended on Vijay D. Do movies like this affect youth? BS...if your kid is so weak that he will be spoiled by an adult movie, you got bigger problems than this movie. overall rating 4/5 Don't text and drive ! |
