Thanks WF, Raman and Sankara! I vaguely remember someone mentioning about an insurance policy with some initial lump sum payment and cannot find that thread. Any leads on that end please? |

Most govt schemes give quarterly interest payout and will not have growth options to include interest towards principal payment. 1. Senior citizens scheme 8.4% interest both banks and post offices provide https://www.indiapost.gov.in/Financial/Pages/Content/SCSS-Ac count.aspx 2. Post office MIS (monthly income scheme ) + RD (recurring deposit) to park monthly interest outlays. Interest works out 8.5% 3. Kosan vikas Patra: principal doubles in 9.5 years (interest at 7.6%) 4. Long term debt mutual funds (interest might yield 7-8%) 5. PPF (cap at 1.5 lake per annum), withdrawals from 5th or 6th year allowed. Interest works out 8.4% Since it is the retirement nest egg, I suggest no equity or any risky investments including real estate. As log the sum yield a decent 7-8% it is considered decent returns. I think park money in few different schemes to ensure liquidity. |

Can anyone please suggest where to park parents retirement funds for about 35lakhs, they don't need recurring income on it. When I suggested fixed deposits, they are saying the interest rate is low in the near by bank. Can anyone suggest any policies or other reliable schemes please. |
