problem is NOT from India to USA/UK/... problem is while going to India. assume u bought in india and brought to US. future lo edo function ki india pattuku povaali. even if u bought in india and brought to US, and taking it back: there is agood chance they will ask you to pay tax again. so, save receipts and carry them with you. its upto you brother.. i paid tax while taking gold to india..as i declared.. and while coming back.. as i declared.. for 2 gold coins.. i paid 17k Rs in india and 210$ while coming back... usually, gold ornaments are not suspected items..and if you carry them without declaring is also ok.. as long as you are not caught.. why take risk? its up to you.. some times people reason that they carry old ornaments to india and get them converted to a new design... | ||

em issue undadhu..happy shopping..make sure you take bills on your/wife name for future travel to india and be ready to pay extra tax if you are paying by CC and also make sure that card is good international purchase else CC vallu kooda fees charge chesthaaru guess 3% of transaction amount | ||

Usually when bringing something from India to Vamerica should not be a problem unless ur luck xxxxs that day. No need to wear the gold either. Just be careful by keeping in a separate bag and keep it with you all the time. With regard to purchases and informing Credit card in advance WILL NOT work always. If the transaction seems suspicious, it is the computer that BLOCKS the transaction as well as card. Happened to me few times. I called the cust service from there (India) and got it resolved. good luck. | ||
