Walmart is Apple, in the sense its very secretive about their infrastructure. The have been using data mining way before others were even considering it. Although it appears as thought walmart is catching up, it is Amazon that is trying to compete with walmart, hence the need for them to buy Whole foods. Walmart has started opening up online market to smaller players, which Amazon has been doing for a while. Right now they are at level grounds, despite their core competence being decidedly in different areas. They are strong competitors right now, and they will continue to escalate against each other. | ||

For eg - each company had their own on premise HR system (Oracle, Peoplesoft, SAP etc) and each company required 10 IT consultants to customize, maintain etc .. Ippudu Workday says, I will host all your HR systems, create a configurable HR system and maintain it for you all with 50+50 people, so your cost will go down by 50%. So 100 companies lo 10 each = 1000. This is being replaced by 50 developers and 50 center maintanance team of Workday. So job loss = 1000 - 100 = 900. So all/majority of custom applications will be generalized/configurable and made a SaaS/Cloud applications ... some may take more, and some faster. But, more application are coming up, customer need better customer service, and so akkada jobs konni increase avuthayi. Obviously cloud development tools, cloud architecture, and most importantly domain expertise (functional) is most important. Soft skills of course. | ||
