Simba:

Sound is more diffused for bipoles (preferred) but need to augment with potent subwoofer.

Thats interesting... when I tried yesterday, dipoles sounded better with default settings but I havent tweaked the settings to optimize the output... since you are saying bipoles are preferred, I will play with some settings (hopefully my sub is powerful enough) and see if it makes difference.

Ishan:

I'm planning to put these in my house. Can you suggest good ones? receiver and sub woofer as well please.
So far I have svs-pb2000 sub, polk cs10 center and polk 60 monitorII as front 2 speakers...nee level ki chala takkuva setup idi...martin logan or klipsch konukko

I am sorry you were asking about ceiling speakers - my media room came with klipsch 16c ceiling speakers - they are low end speakers but for me they sound fine. You can obviously go for higher end models.

Jalsa:

Polk and Klipsch same range anukunta kadha. How do these ceiling speakers sound compared to regular ones?

Both have low end and high end models...but from what I gathered klipsch makes better speakers, but I could be wrong...you could go for high end ones

Jalsa:

Good. Just sad that my daughter is not getting proper therapy since 5 months. She lost lot of ground.

Why not for 5 months if I may ask? hope she is not regressing because of this.

Forgot to ask the question ...given my room dimensions, which is smaller in size if I am not wrong, do you think bipoles/dipoles are better option? Also, to be more picky - do you think dipoles would sound better than bipoles? or just doesn't matter?

You can go with either bipole or dipoles. Both sound almost the same, except in dipoles the bass is nullified between the 2 array of drivers. Sound is more diffused for bipoles (preferred) but need to augment with potent subwoofer.

Since you have the luxury of testing the loaners, give them a shot see what sounds better.

Simba:

Howdy? Good to see you back.

Just to knock off, the ceiling speakers in ATMOS are always direct radiating. Coming to surrounds, there is no thumb rule and Atmos setup doesn't force one either.

As you would have known, fronts drive the bulk of the sound where as rears/surrounds aid to diffuse to give an immersing effect. The type of surrounds you choose depends on the room size, placement of speakers and the spacing from side/rear walls.

Here is my general observation. If you have a relatively small HT room or side walls bouncing the sound off or if seating is close to the rear speakers, then go for Bipole/Dipoles. This makes rears don't sound localized or harsh on listeners.

If you have bigger HT space or no side walls to bounce off, then go with direct firing rear speakers. In fact, go with array of speakers for better experience.

Nenu HT setup chesinappudu, timber matching rears (bipoles) teesukunna. They were OK but new house ki move ayyaka, there were not effective. Final ga, replaced with on-walls (Paradigm Millenia PLXL)for rears and I don't regret.

If you can give your room layout and seating position, I could probably suggest some.

Good luck.

Thanks bro, appreciate your input. So my room is 18" L 12" W and 9" H. It came with 5 in-ceiling speakers (klipsch) 2 front and three back. I am using four of them in atmos (2 front top and 2 rear top). So far I have svs-pb2000 sub, polk cs10 center and pol 60 monitor as front 2 speakers.

I borrowed few bipole/dipole speakers from a friend just to test the 7.1.4 set up. The speaker layout is pretty similar to the pic in this link except that the surround rears are not angled. https://www.dolby.com/us/en/guide/dolby-atmos-speaker-setup/ 7-1-4-setups.html

So, with the borrowed speakers, I played an atmos bluray and that sounded pretty damn good...but I was wondering if that would sound even better with monopoles...

Thanks bro - do you have the same setup? what I gathered was that bipole speakers produce diffuse sounds which is not ideal for atmos...but nonetheless howz your experience so far and can you post exactly what speakers you are using for surround and rear surrounds?

I am setting up Atmos HT at home, and I am kind of confused as to what kind of surround speakers are better for that setup. Bipole/Dipole speakers or monopole direct driving speakers for immersive sound experience?

I have been reading in AVS and AH forums, but seeing diverse opinions. Can you share yours?
