Below average in love stories and other genres. Shankar is awesome in social message based movies. Below average in other stories. I liked many of Sankar movies and used to eagerly wait for his movies but after a few movies realized that he is stuck one formula - that revolves around creating two roles with opposing nature and play with duality. 1) Gentleman - single character with dual nature (one soft spoken and law abiding kittu and the other a theif) 2) Indian - a patriotic Grand Father dead against corruption, and grandson who is corrupt, and then again the Grand Father leads a double life 3) Jeans - Aiswarya leading a double life playing an identical twin to marry another set of twins 4) Oke Okkadu - one of my faves when it was released, potrays a common man change to a powerful man for a week. 5) Aparichithudu - multiple personality disorder - main character is softspoken brahmin and he unconsciously operates as other characters 6) Sivaji - an honest and straightforward guys dies and comes back to life to achieve the good things he started 7) Robo - good Robo morphs to an evil one 8) I - a handsome trusting young man is turned to disease ridden ugly avenger Premikudu - although this doesnt fall under the same theme, the villian again has dual nature, one face to the public as a good caring politican and the other a evil mass murderer his stories are wound around this nature of conflicting personalities. not saying his movies do not deserve any credit because of this, merely pointing that his ideas stem from the same concept. | ||
