you either pay tax in india.. or pay tax in US... you only pay tax once for all accountable purposes... you can choose where to pay tax based on better tax benefits you receive.... if US tax is lesser than India.. you can pay tax in US... and vice-versa.... which is EXISTING law.... nothing new in it. For ex. a Inforsys employee works in India for 6 months and works in USA for 3 months and goes back to India at end of the year... infosys employee should theoritically pay all the taxes in India, for the money that he earned in USA as well.... BUT in USA, he has to FILE taxes.. meaning report that he earned xyz amount in USA, but he paid taxes to Indian government for that amount.. and doesnt want to pay tax in USA... All you have 2 understand is the difference of tax between the country u live in vs India Ex in us u earn 100k$ = 70 lakhs n u paid taxes of 20k = 10 lakhs In India for 70 lakhs-if the tax rate of this bracket is 40% n = 28 lakhs. The Government of India will introduce a new policy, effective from 31 March 2017, that will force ALL persons holding an Indian citizenship to pay TAX on their WORLDWIDE Income. This means that if you are holding an Indian passport, regardless of where you reside in the world, and even if you have not travelled to India for a long period of time, you will be forced to declare your worldwide income to the Indian Tax Authorities, which worldwide income will be subject to Indian Income Tax. Last year, 15,000 Indian nationals took up residence in Dubai for tax saving purposes. Others relocated to Hong Kong, Singapore, Mauritius and other low tax jurisdictions in order to mitigate their tax liability in India. However, when the new policy comes into place, regardless of their tax residence, the Indian national will still have to declare their non-Indian wealth to the Indian Government. This model to be adopted by the Indian Government is taken from the USA model.
