A. Modi obviously stands the best chance. He is continuing his firm grip over BJP and BJP is still going strong in most parts of India. As a backup they have strong allies like TDP and Shiv Sena and smaller allies in NDA. B. Mamata Banerjee is too much of a regional face to be accepted nationally. It is unlikely that other parties would accept her leadership. Very unlikely. C. Rahul Gandhi stands a distant second to Modi. Although the Congress is still weak, it has good cadre across the country and is therefore capable of bouncing back if they get the right opportunity (say recession, fissures in BJP, or some big goof up by the central govt.). Rahul Gandhi is obviously not smart and doesn't have any administrative experience but we all know that his Gandhi surname is enough to win the support of his own party. Allies are always ready to back Congress when it exhibits strength. D. Kejri - Complete absence from South India. Alliance with traditional parties is extremely hard to pull off while continuing to avoid use of black money in politics. So he doesn't stand much of a chance. But a miracle might make him the consensus candidate of Third Front or some such alternative alliance. CBN - Given his party's near decimation in Telangana, he is not likely to get more than 20 Lok Sabha seats. That makes it hard for him to gain the acceptance of other larger parties. Nitish - Bihar lo ne sonthanga majority ledu. Kashtam. Jagan - Given the weekly hearing system, it is highly unlikely that he can postpone judgements in every single case until 2019 polls. Once sentenced, he will be boycotted from contesting polls just like Lalu Prasad Yadav. In any case, his party is too weak in AP and wiped out in TS.
