private hospitals are not allowed to take 500,1000 notes only governments hospitals are exempted.. private hospitals are dual edge swords...allow chesthe oka baadha(rich people and their kith and kin horde black money there by joining in hospitals without any ailment)... allow cheyyakapothe oka badha( grievance to public in a country where public hospitals are on death bead)... they chose later because first one would dilute the move taken ... | ||

VISAKHAPATNAM: Acute shortage of currency has claimed the life of an 18-month-old girl in the city. The infant died for want of timely medical care as the hospital refused to accept the demonetized Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes. The incident that had occurred on Saturday came to light on Sunday. The victim was identified as Komali, daughter of a watchman, Adari Ganesh, at Kakatiya ITI in Gajuwaka. The parents of the girl had to struggle hard to even perform her funeral rites as they were left with no money. According to sources, Komali had been ill for quite some time. She was treated at King George Hospital for high fever. As fever did not subside, her parents took her to a private hospital in Gajuwaka. The doctors referred the girl to diagnostic laboratory for medical tests for confirmation of viral fever. "We came to know that the family had old currency notes. But the hospital authorities did not accept them.They returned home without the tests. The watchman's neighbours collected lower denomination notes to help the hapless man. But the money was just sufficient for the medical tests. They returned home on Friday night as they did not have money to buy medicines. The girl died a few hours later," G Kiran Kumar, a neighbour said.The girl's mother, Lakshmi Sarada, said Komali could have survived had the hospital accepted the old notes. "Many were willing to help us. But none of them had the new currency," she said. A couple of days ago, the son and two daughters of an ailing man, K Karavayya from Palasa area of Srikakulam, could not visit him when he was on death bed.The migrant workers living in Hyderabad did not have money to see their father for one last time.
