we all have to fall under the will of Karma and experience the punyam/papam via good/bad or sukham/dukham. However Lord Eeswara (Siva or Vishnu or Sakthi) is supreme and can eradicate/lesses some of the Karma phalams. The concept of this came as Sri Satyanarayana Vratam in Kaliyuga. If you follow the stories carefully.. 1) Brahmin is experiencing his poorva janma karma phalam in the form of poverty. he is leading dharmic life now but still has to go through. So when he truly surrenderred to the lord then lord appeared to him and asked to do Vrata. He believed and followed. got moksham. Same with the guy who is selling "KaTTElu". 2) Another King performing the pooja requesting for Santanam.. Now comes the Vysya. This guy did NOT fully believe or agree. oka raayi veddam chooddam emavutundo type. So he had a deal. I will do the pooja if I have a child. Relate it to modern 0% APR credit card loan. He had kid but did NOT do it. Kept on postponing and not even after marriage of the Kid he performed the vrata. So now logically/practically how much he owed to the god. So god wants to teach him a lesson and bring back on track. All further events followed. 3) Same with the last King who refused to take prasadam from "gollavaaru" and back on track. Prasadam and Teerdham As per our Sastras 1/6th of the food we take affects our manasu/mind and thoughts. That is the reason why our dharma insista instead of just eating like that, offer it to GOD as Naivedyam and take it as Prasadam to purify our thoughts and manasu. ante gaani demudu SADIST emi kaadu. voorike padava muncheyyadam, jail lo pettinchaTam etc., to those who wants to be on track but fail due to other vasanas, he will put them in track. In Bagavath Gita, it says we have four sects of people, Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra. In Satyanaryana story, Part one focus on Brahmin, Part two on Shudra, Part Three and four on Vaishya and Part five on Kshatriya. Meaning human can perform the pooja. This Vratham is not restricted to certain sects of people. Also stories focuses on all types of people perosnality, Poor, Hard working, Greedy, Lousy, Ignorant, arrogant, devote etc..... Vratam means way of life. Satyanarayana is personification of Satya or truth. How do you define truth? This Vratam scientifically defines it and explains it in so fundamental level that it is not only understood by educated but also by a common man. Even science did not explain what is true or false. But it assumes something as true and hence it's opposite is false. But this Vratam starts explaining it from Vraruna (water) pooja on Kalasam. Vedas define water as root for life. That's the first truth. Then it defines five rulers of the world or pancha loka palakas viz Ganesha or countables Brahma or Creator, Vishnu or The All Pervading Energy, Shiva or Inner Peace and Gowri or the stream of Knowledge. Then you'd be introduced to the Nava Grahas finally the dasa dikpalakas these are the true things you witness in your life. Now you invoke the Satyanarayana Swamy with beeja akahara essentially of these elements. Coming to stories each story tells the importance of truth in a new dimension. Gotta will be used ti identify ur male lineage which u get from ur father and he from his father and so on. Its just a deeper way to identify oneself..why do we insist on last names? For example there are 2 simbas in ur company..ur ceo knows that simba1 is top performer and simba2 is avg performer.say u invent something terrific. Though ur ceo may know who possibly it could be dont u want to make sure it is u who built that by explicitly specifying ur last name in the piece of code. Thread antha poorthi gaa chadavaledu kaani, we do quite frequently at my home (almost every pournami, one or two months missing in a year). I do all pooja and kadha all. Even punahpooja at the end(after kadha). But I dont trust anything called God beyond my father and mother. I follow Hindu rituals as a part of my culture and family. I dont mind in going to Temple/praying etc. But I only trust to offer my respect to my parents(I put deepam infront of my late father photo only, nowhere else. While my spouse follow all the Hindu rituals, which I never object). So, While respecting our culture, I believe in what I believe :-) | ||

An essential part of this puja is listening to the Sri Satyanarayana Swami Katha (narrative). The five-part story involves the origin of the puja, benefits of the puja, the potential mishaps that may occur with the forgetting performance of the puja, the magnitude of the Lord’s benevolence and the importance of the Prasad, and consequences of snubbing the ritual. Chapter 1 narrates the origins of the puja. Sri Satyanarayana Katha comes from the Skanda Puraṇa, Reva khaá¹‡á¸Ťa.[20] Suta Mahará¹£hi is the one narrating this account to Saunaka Muni, in Naimiá¹£araṇya to the á¹›iá¹£his who were performing a thousand year yajna for the benefit of humanity. The procedure itself was narrated my Sriman Narayana to Narada. Chapter 2 narrates the benefits of the puja. A poor Brahmin was approached by Lord Himself in disguise and He advised him of the puja. Upon successful completion of the puja, the Brahmin could overcome his difficulties and enjoy eternal bliss. It also narrates about the good fortune of a woodcutter who witnesses the Brahmin performing the puja and continues to gain prosperity after performing the puja. Chapter 3 narrates the mishaps that may occur for dishonoring the vow to perform the puja. A merchant, with an intention to establish family, vows to perform the puja upon having a child. He adjourns the vow to complete it during the child’s marriage. Upon forgetting the vow, the Lord puts the merchant in hardship. The merchant is falsely accused and imprisoned. His entire business is confiscated by the king. His household goes bankrupt. He is freed when his wife recollects the promise and performs the puja. Chapter 4 narrates about the Lord’s benevolence and the importance of the Prasad. This is a continuation of the previous chapter. During an incident, the merchant puts off the Lord about his merchandise, thereby losing all its value. Realizing his folly, the merchant regrets his intemperance and seeks forgiveness. On hearing that the merchant reached the dockyard, his wife and daughter, who were performing the puja at that time, forget to take the Prasad. Angered with the disrespect, He makes the boats sink into the sea, only to be restored when they have the Prasad. Chapter 5 narrates about the importance of the puja and not that of the devotees. A group of backwoodsmen was performing the puja. King discards and disregards the offerings, thereby invoking the wrath of Sri Satyanarayana. The king loses his kingdom, wealth, and family, only to be restored upon realizing his recklessness and seeking forgiveness to Sri Satyanarayana and accepting the offerings. | ||
