Rasputin:

You have to contribute money to HSA. You can only pay what's accumulated at that point. If you have a 4K expense, and you havec only $1k in HSA, you can only pay $1k at that point.

You can file for reimbursement later when you have enough funds in HSA.

Typically HSA ki employer will contribute either 500 or 1000 as per company policy

We contribute whathever savings of premium/ general anticipates expenses of $1000 or so

Basically in my case

employer 1000

premium savings of 2400 (from the traditional low deductible plan)

additional 1500 (Even with traditional plan myd eductible is 1500)

so my annual HSA contribs will be 4900. Unused will rollover to next year

I think HSA contribution is Federal tax-deductible and for California there is no tax deduction.

Andhravodu:

HRA - you pay higher monthly payment. nothing will be credited to ur account. so insurance company takes all..you will get coverage ex: first 6000 per head katteyali..family ki 10000 katteyali...next amount lo insurance pays upto 80% - 200000$ total family..individual ki 10000$ ila vuntayi..aa tarvata insurance full coverage istundi..next nuvvu ichina example lo first 6000 kattestavu..migilina 9000 lo 80% insurance 20% nuvvu kadatavu..

HSA - you pay minimum plan maintenance fee..aa tarvata nee interest batti you can choose monthly saving amount..year ki upto 5000 or something tax benefit vuntundi..ee amount neede..ee year vadakapote next year lekapote future lo..comp change ayina ee amount neede..migilina payments almost same as above scenario lo vunnatte vuntayi..indulo malli gold/platinum vunna concept same..

HSA lo preventive like vaccines avi cover avutayi..regular visits ki velte doctor/insurance pampina bill katteyali..mana limit reach aye varaku..you can use HSA money..

HRA preventive like vaccines avi cover avutayi..regular visits ki velte irrespective of bill first copay kattestamu..nuvvu ichina example lo mana limit reach aye varaku katteyali from your own pocket..

naa exp and colleagues cheppina dani batti HSA is the way to go in present situation...past lo PPO type insurance almost gone..employers evadu ivadam ledu..individual ga konte chala chala expensive..

The money in an HRA is provided solely by the employer. HRAs are usually unfunded notional accounts, with no cash value. An HSA is a tax-advantaged account that can be used to pay for IRS-defined health care expenses, including long-term care and COBRA premiums.
