lets discuss what will be the long lasting impact on this country.. 1). Supremer Court: Biggest blow to the liberal values in the country is at the Supreme court.. out of the 8 current justices, 4 are liberal, 3 are conservative and 1 moderate. There is currently one vacancy and 2 liberal judges are expected to retire in the next year or so. Since repubs have control of both the House and Senate in Congress, we are sure going to have very conservative justices. that will tip the bench to 6 conservative, 2 libs.. expect to see a lot of decisions from the last few years over turned. Like Marriage equality, abortion rights, education etc... and US lo justices are appointed for iife. there is no term limit... liberal values are in for a really really long tough period. 2). Legal immigration: While Trump seems to be positive towards legal immigration, he went back and forth on this. And I'm not sure if he can get house to vote for reducing restrictions on legal immigration.. we just have to wait and see. 3). Illegal immigration: lite le lo... wall katte scene ledu le kani, DREAMERS lanti acts will be abolished. Might see increased investment in border security for couple of years and then everything will be back to normal. 4). Environmental: Sacchindi gorre.. fracking will increase.. expect to see more and more adverse impacts on the water resources across the country. 6). Foreign policy: not sure. Trump says he doesn't want to meddle in other countries but Repub house is very hawkish. He might have to give into them on FP issues to have them agree on some of his other policies like immigration. 7). Healthcare: this is another cause for concern. Repubs eppudu repeal and replace ACA antunaru kani aa replacement ki solid policy inta varaku okkadu cheppaledu. Clearly the country cannot go back to what it was before ACA.. a lot of people liked the pre-existing conditions rule and any new policy is expected to have the same provision. But that was one of the main driving force behind sky high premiums.. it's gonna be tough days for the healthcare industry with lots of uncertainty. |
