Telugu people, (not to generalize everybody), have this unusual stupidity of supporting politicians/ heroes based on their fanboy groups or caste groups. This 'supporting' goes to an extent of madness and stubbornness to portray only their hero as a special being. Such a petty idea could sometimes lead to a situation like that. For some reason, fans here do not use a bit of sense before even doing such an act. Another example is, the other day, I saw a picture where fans of Jr. NTR were doing a abhishekam with milk for his poster in a theater in USA during his film. When they become so much mad of a person's family/ obsessed because of same caste feelings and that reaches the heights of madness, such things are common. In some cases it need not be same caste too, but fan groups form randomly based on which hero they support. Like say Mahesh Babu vs Pavan Kalyan. You see a number of people who have verbal war on social media proving the superiority of Mahesh and Pavan. This goes to an extent of forming anti fan groups too. It is a good thing that the USA has rentrak- otherwise the collections of certain actors that in reality have a lower market value would be doubled and tripled by âbox office trackers,â who are nothing but glorified fans trying to prove that his/her star is the best. Caste is definitely the biggest factor, especially Kamma vs Kapu when it comes to Telugu actors, and also the illogical âfamily feeling,â which is essentially the belief that any actor from a certain family should be supported regardless of his/her talent level. Mahesh Babu, Pawan Kalyan, and now Jr. NTR have a very impressive & stable market in the USA. I know this because I am from the USA. Allu Arjun has a pretty good market value in the USA, and Prabhasâs market is slowly building up here. Nagarjunaâs movies used to do well only with good reviews in the USA but his market has strengthened to such an extent that even average, commercial movies like Soggade Chinni Nayana are doing well in the USA. Nani has a great market, especially among families, which is why all the overaction/hype is not necessary for his fans to show his market. Balakrishna and Ram Charan Tej are two Telugu actors that have close to zero market value in the USA. Note that I am not referring to the acting skills of these two actors- that is totally irrevelant to the question you asked and it would be foolish of me to bring that factor into the question- but I have seen there being huge functions celebrated by Balakrishna and Ram Charan Tej fans in USA theaters (Govindudu Andarivadele & Legend/Lion premiere celebrations by fans are probably available on YouTube), and also have seen an âNBKLIONâ license plate in Detroit, Michigan. I have also heard that a Balakrishna fan purchased a ticket for Lion for $15,000! Yet this hype doesn't show in the collections of movies. The fans of Balakrishna are not numerous in the USA, so they try to make up for it with hype (Again, I am not trying to degrade the fans or the actors- I am just stating the facts). Of course, there are also celebrations for Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan movies, especially in New Jersey and California, where the Telugu population is extremely high, and I have also heard that a ticket of âSrimanthuduâ was purchased for $25,000 dollars. Nonetheless, these two actors have a legitimate, solid fan base in the USA, shown by the overall collections of their movies, so this hype is probably just out of popularity. Similarly, a lot of the hype for NBK & RCT movies may also be genuine fans finding an occasion to meet up after a long time and party, but I feel that a major factor is trying to create hype to fool the outside world into getting an innaccurate picture of the market level of different stars in the USA, especially AP/TG box office trackers, and even the common people. Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan have a market very different to the other stars in the USA, in that they are the only two superstars whose fans I have seen transcending all caste-based boundaries, Kamma and Kapu respectively (Nani is the only other actor, but as of now I would consider him a star. In the future he will no doubt become a superstar.) It is the talent/hardwork of these two actors that has earned them fans in the USA, not caste. This is definitely a very important development, because the caste system is essentially racism, except it is within oneâs own religion/nation/state/ethnicity. This Kamma, Kapu discussion or the so called over enthusiastic celebrations are stuck just to the premiere shows and morning shows. And until they are harmless and non offending we should not bother about it because it is not those over enthusiastuc fans that decide the fate of the movie but it is the general audience who decide it's box office status. He is a young director helming the landmark project of a top hero in the industry. Since the movie is being made on a lavish scale, the director is under tremendous pressure to compete the film for a specified release without compromising on the quality. The young director who was initially elated at getting the project is now sweating profusely due to the pressure. And recently, a really sad incident happened.
