if battery technology improves.. Automobile will go away.. We would have only electric cars. Also we would not be dependent on powergrid once battery can store more power and if there is less loss of power. Solar and wind energy would be flourishing. I would say that smartphone would stay but it wont be called smartphone. It would be called smartdevice called palmtop. It would do various things along with phone functionality. and ofcourse, the holygrail of all - power consumption and storage this is continuous improvements - you want your battery to give the highest performance consuming lowest power and the battery to store maximum amount of energy.. battery technology has not evolved significantly over the past few decades and I believe change is around the corner this will have wide range implications..including how we power our own houses.. if battery technology is improved we can use solar panels to generate electricity which can be stored in batteries and used whenever necessary. etc. | ||

Iot - Internet of Things - all the semiconductor companies are currently focusing their r&d efforts on this and already started pumping marketing brochures, presentations, etc. into the market... As the name suggests, the plan is to insert a chip into every thing we ever know and make it communicate with other things with chips in them.. for example: chips can be inserted into tube lights and make them communicate directly with smartphones or tv's or others..kind of like expanding the wireless network around your house... you can make all these independent devices communicate with each other individually and eventually make them even smarter this technology isn't commercialzed yet, but over the next decade or so, it will creep into everything including manufacturing where all the machine data will directly sent to cloud, where it is analyzed and the results are sent back directly to dashboard recommending optimized workflow.. this has not been done so far esp. in the more traditional O&G, core mechanical companies but the day is not far when IoT is implemented here. bottom line, all these will eventually connected to apps which can be downloaded into your smart phones.. for ex: in the next 20 yrs, a petroleum refinery operator can optimize and control his reactor temperature in a few minutes...it takes about a week now, for him to download data, send it to experts and make the changes.. | ||

This phone doesnt have full windows OS. Only tablet OS undhi. and it doesnt have the processing power to run RAM hungry apps. Future lo manchi processor vasthe phone can be doubled as laptop. I will be in line to buy such phone. I can think of projector or laser projector as part of the smarphone. Smartphone being core processor and just plugin it into monitor for to make it cpu work.
