Those of you who prolly don't agree with the crappy interview questions I had posted below, unfamiliarity with Android or any such, and any familiarity with Java based Web App development, replace Google Play Store with choice of your Production Server - JBoss, WebLogic, Oracle App Server etc, and replace apk bundle with a secured WAR File for questions from 3 through 9.

Most Desi interviewers questions are like trivia contest....they will ask questions for which answer is readily available with simple google search.....Developer need not remember every nook or corner of a framework.

this is typical for Indian dudes

The best 3 Interviews I had was done by Indians though. They measured the whole breadth of my experience within a few questions. No overactions. My batting rate here is 2/3, the one I wasn't picked for it was clear I wasn't ready at that time

Rest desi interviews junk. my batting rate is ~40% in these interviews, but everything is a crap show start to bottom with those companies, starting with interviews

JR bro. I totally agree with you. Desi interviewer ante i just go to the interview with out any hopes. I guess they just wnat to know what you dont know instead of trying to find out what you know.

I was able to crack only one interview so for with a desi guy. actually that interview had 4 desi folks fighting to ask questions.
they asked 10 questions over all i answered 4. interview was scheduled for 1 hr ended after 20 mins. cut chesthe 2 days taruvata i got a call that they would like to bring me on board.

Jambal tammud, you must be preparing for a complex interview q's and probably ignoring some basic questions.

I believe below post lo interviewer is targeting basic questions and I guess you need to go thru interview questions from various websites which can build your confidence levels..

Questions antha ghoram gaa levu gaa? Maybe he wants you to talk about run time compilation etc w.r.t. ART.

Technical deep dive interviews alaage untaayi kada? Even when I interview people, I do ask them specific questions to gauge their expertise. I don't actually expect them to answer everything correctly though.

I am not in software or other related fields. But those questions seem legit to me. That interviewer wants to know if you are good at your job. He is looking for technical knowledge. Not a managerial role.

Presumptive notions emi undav saar..
We have significant number of Android Developers in this DB itself. Let's see if they anticipate these questions in a Android Developer interview, or a Lead Role, Contract or FTE, whatever.
Questions are as-is, I am not rephrasing or reframing to guard my point, and I am also presenting my thought-process and brief answers that I have tried..

1) We have a major issue with our app. When User rotates the device from portrait to landscape orientation, we are losing all the pre-filled form-data. We also need to re-arrange some view-widgets, and re-position them. This has been a major setback that we haven't managed to resolve.
My Answer - Use android:configChanges="orientation", and override OnConfigurationChanged method in the Activity implementation, and so on.. some more explanation.

2) Based on above answer, why would you do that, if Google guidelines say differently?
I was personally disappointed after a lot of wrong-foot moments during that interview. I don't recall all the other idiotic questions.

In an entirely different interview for a FTE role...
3) What happens when you install an Application?
My Thought - I don't know, and Would I have to really care? Did I care what happens when I deployed a Web Application to Tomcat? Did I care what happens when that web application was deployed to Production Servers by the Release Management team? How is the First URL Request handled? What happens to millions of requests of traffic at deployment time? Fall-back servers??
My Answer - The APK File is downloaded and placed in some permanent memory location from where the Android System can showcase that Application with a Shortcut Icon, that is also bundled in that APK, so that Clients and Users can see that Application. Well, actually, that Application has not started yet. (Well, I know this because after killing an Application, that Shortcut Icon is still visible but my Android Studio Debugger won't show me that process package)

4) What is that permanent memory location?
My Answer - I do not recall exact Directory path.

5) When is the Application started?
My Answer - When Client taps on the Shortcut Icon.

6) What happens next?
My Answer - Application class - generic from the SDK or custom java class that extends Application class is first class-loaded, instantiated, onCreate method, then Launcher Intent goes to declared Activity Class Instance after again class-loading, instantiation etc etc...

7) What is action in Android?
My Thought - OMG, that is a new term. Have I come-across? How could I have missed? ACTION_SEND, ACTION_VIEW etc etc.. Intent-Flags.. Oh yes, <action> sub-tag inside Intent-Filter tag in the Manifest xml file.
My Answer - Some basic stuff I knew about Intent-Filter Action attribute.

8) How do you deploy Application to Google Play Store?
My Thought - I am done. He hates me, he hates my face.
My Answer - The Build process, using Gradle or Ant, we prepare a bundle, the APK file, which can be uploaded to Google Play Beta, or Google Play Store, depending on availability of a Developer Console feature. Well, we get a dedicated Console when we purchase Publication Licensing, and we have to use those Licenses, basically some kind of a cert file, inside a keystore, to perform jar-signing on the APK bundle, and only then that APK is ready to be uploaded to Google Play Store. This uploading can be done from the Web Site or Android Studio has plugins to automatically push this signed APK bundle.

9) I disagree, there are no certs when we get Google Licenses?
My Answer - Well, there certainly is a KeyStore file, with a name, an alias, a password, all the regular stuff, and there is a SHA256 or MD5 encryption-key mechanism inside that keystore, most likely a Cert file, and this encryption mechanism is important to perform jar-signing of the APK Bundle, and that is how identities are maintained for App Updates also, like 1.0 becomes 1.0.10 or 1.0.12, and previous apk is replaced by latest apk version only on the basis of that signing entity. If APK Bundle is signed differently, say Debug Keystore, which is inside a hidden .android folder on a macbook, for a Debug level build, and not a Release build, then previous apk won't get overridden.

10) How is Jar-signing done? Have you done that before?
My Answer - Be be bebebebebebebe...

11) What are Shared Preferences?
By now, I was done with the heat of the interview. I knew this is going no where. I only gave a partly correct text-book answer.

12) What is Remote Service? Can an Application be started remotely?
Some more, many more, mindless questions, is all I felt.

13) What is Android Device Manager?
Ok. Thank you. 1 Hr, and my entire Day Billing is wasted.

I have personally been on the Interview Panel in all my jobs as an Android Developer and these are definitely not the Interview Questions I would ask for any Junior, Mid-level, Senior Android Dev Role. I wouldn't really care if the candidate that is going to work in my team understands or not, what happens when the App is installed on a device, or permanent memory location where the apk bundle is downloaded or copied to during installation, or jar-signing and all that crap.
My questions are all from the internet itself, and strictly based on experience. Genuine candidates can explain better, fake candidates falter to explain why and how a Java Class becomes a Controller in MVC Architecture implementation.

predisposed notions make you vulnerable at interviews. Being professional is exactly opposite of it. Don't carry excess baggage when you encounter someone, be it gora, kaala or desi

I did interview few people for some positions in our company. I know exactly what I want for that position. I don't have to play d!ck measuring contest with applicants. At the end of the day, I picked desi guys for all 4 interviews I did. They were the best among the pool contested.

Don't have prejudice against desi interviewers. You never know what's in store for you.

My guess is, you are taking way too much stress onto yourself regarding these interviews. Try not to gauge/judge the intentions of other desi guy and just go with the flow. Relax and try to answer as much as you can and take the outcome out of your mind. That may yield better results for you.

Desis ki doola or something, ardham ayithaledu...
9 yr in US, more than 30 interviews so far, Desi Interviewer vasthey I give-up at first-question itself.
Job Relevance kaadu kada, asalu yem adagaalani anukuntunnaro... yem sentence frame chesthaaro koodaa guess cheyatam kashtam ayipothondi roju rojuki..
okey question ki yenni saarlu that's an open-ended question, could you please be more specific ani repeat cheyaalo naaku ardham avvad... adey interview lo yenni questions ki malli alaage repeat cheyaalo kangaaru...
Why does interviewing with a desi feel like a contest?
nijangaa vaadiki anthalaa ekkuva telusaa.. nenu nijangaa assalu paniki raanaa.. anukunentha yevevo relevant/irrelevant horribly framed questions aduguthaar enduku???
Ye question ki ayina single-word, max single-sentence kante ekkuva maattaadithey... yekkada egg meeda feathers peekuthaaro ani extra kangaaru...
What is this trend? Is it common? Any of you have experienced? Naa track record matuku.. every job, every project I have worked, I got through the interview because there was no Desi.
Desi Interviews track-record 0.
