and I know some kids... who made it to these big league schools and - - some dropped out of college, 2 years after their parents paid fortune for their first two years of college - some ended up really good - some ended up average - some ended up topper and still stuck with normal job - some with average scores but excelled as entrepreneurs and I know some kids from normal schools who ended up doing very well. I recently happened to meet some kid(s) at stanford... happened to talk to a kid in length. she re-iterated that - - There are smart kids in normal colleges and there are average kids in ivy/top colleges - ivy/top colleges helps you get your first job at good companies with good pay. but after that, it all depends on your skills, attitude and your talent (not academics) - Studying t these schools definitely help networking, as a good number of kids out of these colleges are at good positions and they have bias to fill their org with their alumni. Every kid who goes there to start with was special at High school level. But once they reach there, kids talent would vary again. not all would get 4.0 gpa. and the brand name gets you initial job. after initial job, who cares for gpa? It all depends on your networking skills. The main advantage getting into these schools is opportunity for networking. if a kid uses this facility, gpa (alone) does not matter. Jai Andhra!! politician's kids will get admissions easily. all these places have clubs. it is mainly for contacts. any businessman will tell you MBA from top school will not change who you are. it is only a club where you make contacts. if they feel that having you in their club will help them in future by getting access to Indian Govt, they will give you admission. | ||

Recently had chat with guy who went to Ivy. According to him. .Getting into these colleges are not that tough anymore but still standards are same. Some things he mentioned which i did not agree with. 1) Not all people who get into Ivy would not get into top places. there is still crap. unlees you get near to 4gpa or highest according to college you are considered average guy. There are many who finish course near to 3.5 and they are like regular guys. 2) there are many average people get into these school with donations like politicians sons, millionaires sons , other country leaders sons.. etc.. so they are also average. They barely pass and clear the course. not all would reach top who get into these schools.. they get preference in market becoz of their brand but when it goes down to gpa companies would not prefer.. entha varaku nijam?
