Tripple talak - to start with, since the topic is burning in news. Forcible child marriage - still being a large issue in hindusim. Forcible dowry - many may deny this as religious issue, but factually it is, in majority of hindu sects. Untouchability - surprisingly still is practiced, changed its former to subtle ways. Many villages are still witnessing even in this era. Fraud Swamijis/pastors sexual abuses. UCC can give voice to people and allows to gain strength to proceed legally when any person experiences forcible religious practice. Otherwise there is a risk that these are unreported in fear. We are fortunate that we are personnaly not experiencing this stuff, but they unfortunately still are happening in India. If we want to become great as a country we need to address them properly. | ||

Many. List can be exhausting. UCC (in theory) means, when it comes to personal rights, constitution should have power to override relious rights. Also, I am sure that you are aware that it's not the govt or Modi who brought up the issue of tripple talak which I think stirred the issue of UCC once again in the country. | ||

In its basic and raw form, simple explanation is with example as follows: If a Hindu guy wants to practice Sathi then it should be allowed under the name of his religious faith as he is just following what he has learnt from his tradition. Normally perception of the religious person who can go that extent of performing these kind of acts is that govt or judicial system shouldn't interfere in these matters, because these are my religious beliefs. Uniform civil code when in action shall try to prevent this kind of atrocity if any extreme religious believer attempts it, in theory. | ||
