Aquarian, I hope I wont run into it as I will be working at client's place. But still, yes, this is something I have to prepare myself to until I see an alternative.

does it work? I am sure client is interested because they contacted me after infosys made the offer.. too bad time!

thought infy will have some restrictions in taking FTE with the client.

Normally if clients are demanding, they would like to keep an option to hire ppl whom they like. If its a budget client then they will follow Infy rules...

U will know in 6 months...if Infy mgmt is not bad, u dont see a difference...in work culture..if they are bad and unprofessional, it will be a pain..

Lay offs have a certain stigma attached to them. Is it because of downturn or performance or something else ani. You can't take these decisions to heart.

I went for Yahoo interview in 2013. I was asked to implement circular queue/B+Trees. The manager is from IIT..
I asked him do you implement these concepts here in your code? he said no bt we want the person to know everything..I told him, if you have asked me these questions 8 years back, I would have shown you multiple implementation along with their space and time complexity calculation at each step. I told him you probably should hire college freshers than experienced folks.

I also told him, I have implemented or used B+ trees concept only once in my entire tenure that was developng a file system for AIX OS...aadu thanks and done ani seppi pampinchesadu...

I suggest to take infy offer and then start looking for a new job in 3 or 4 months. The kind of confidence you'll have when you have a job is different than when you don't have one.

One thing i realized is, you have to be confident and should have an attitude that your life is not dependent on the current interview process. Don't carry the luggage that you didn't get job and you are of no good.

This I was not aware.. Whatever attempts I made were through recruiters and interviews were way tooooo difficult.. I myself was part of interviewer panel in my old company but my approach was always to look for the approach but not necessarily the right answer to each programming question.. I was of the impression that interview itself is tense situation for the other end..

but the interviews that I attended were anywhere near to it. Technology and old projects, I was able to answer very well. When it comes to programming they are throwing gotcha questions which are more of puzzles.. to me (may be I am wrong) they are not of interview questions.. only select few could be able to come up close to an answer (may be those companies need such select few - I am not being sour grape here).. one interviewer literally persisted I should answer the question even though I gave few options and the logic/code to some extent but I couldnt finish it off as I was too overwhelmed by that time..

Another interview, I did very well though its not domain.. there were discussions on pay and joining date and others .. But in the end they went someone who has similar skill set.

looks like not my time!

annai for time being, take it. you are in bay area. this is the norm for most of the big companies ..

if you really want to go for big companies, read/practice algorithms design book ... Did you try in Etrade? Etrade interview process is normally very good ...

Take it, will be a good move. Infy under Vishal Sikka has undergone big change and seems to be good for medium term future! If luck has it, you may grow big as well.

Laid off recently - though have a pachcha card, three attempts to get into big companies failed which ruined my confidence altogether.. Thought I did well but apparently mismatch of requirements and my skill set and few lapses on my side (to me, they are not big but employers are too demanding these days it seems!) spoiled my chances..

Then Infosys made an offer.

No 401k, no stocks. I am sure health plan also will be bad.
But getting bigger base pay and bonus than my previous job.

As my confidence is all time low, I am thinking of joining Infosys and then keep trying.
