Chandrababu Naidu has categorically stated that the new Railway zone for the state will be headquartered in Visakhapatnam. Addressing a public meeting here after inaugurating JNNURM Housing Colony, he said earlier also he had ruled out Amaravati and made it clear that the Railway zone should come only at Visakhapatnam and at no other place. He named the housing colony comprising 1839 units and constructed with a cost of Rs.36 crore after Telugu Desam founder NT Rama Rao’s wife and his mother-in-law Basavatarakam. A model colony, it has a PHC, RO plant, community hall, anganwadi centre, among other things. Panchagramam’s issue The Chief Minister announced that during the year construction of four lakh houses would be taken up with a cost of Rs.4,000 crore. Scotching criticism against the smrat pulse survey, he said it was intended to come out with plan to enable every family earn an income of Rs.10,000 a month. Mr. Chandrababu Naidu assured that the Panchagramam’s issue would be solved soon and Tadi village severely hit by pollution would be shifted. Industrial corridor He said Achyutapuram and Elamanchili road would be widened as a part of Visakhapatnam-Chennai industrial corridor, skill development taken up for job creation and attention would be paid to giving employment to locals and a 30-bed hospital would be set up at Parawada. He had asked the Collector to prepare plans to make Mutyalammapalem as beach tourism destination for which Rs.5 crore was needed. Housing Minister K. Mrinalini, Anakapalle MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao and Pendurti MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy spoke.
