thanks for your comments. What I am talking is abstract ideology , which is very good in theory but in reality you need political mechanism to implement as we must bound constitution . We have available options BJP,Congress at national level and YCP and TDP state level . Each of these political parties has strongly manifested ideology such as Religion for BJP ,Gandhi family for congi and constant complaining no action communists . Any development or welfare must satisfy their core ideology and country must crawl at their mercy of few individuals . I dont think anyone disagrees with that, but to think that only certain types of genes can do certain type of things is still an assumption. no one contests that there are always freaks of nature, but hiding behind genetics is stupidity with the current knowledge of genetics we have. if all blacks are equally strong why american blacks dont win the marathons like the kenyans, and jamaicans do not win the boxing bouts rather than at sprints? Indians lack height anedhi on avg basis is true. but its not true that indians do not have the qualifying height for any event. someone is taking about height and wing span, most american swimmers are at around 6ft? number of 6 footers in india is definetly more than number of 6 footers in USA .. not percentage numbers .. lol. but the number of people who train for swimming copare chesthe you will know the disparity. We cannot zero it down to a single issue. 1) Cultural - until last generation most folks in india do not even most of these sports, let alone think about making them a part of their society. Even the sports that we are aware of there is no support from the families for kids to pursue them. This support plays a great role - example, classical dance nerchukone families chala untayi india lo, irrespective of whether they fetch money many parents encourage(d) it, and there are awesome dancers, musicians and writers. granted musicians and writers also make money. 2) Infrastructure - Right from school level, there are kids who show promise but get burned out because of lack of infrastructure. Lets consider nations that are not as great as the US in providing infrastructure, like Jamaican sprinters - Usain bolt, granted he is a freak of human, he had world class trainers from high school level. The trainer who trained him had already trained atleast 100 world class athletes by the time Bolt got an opputunity to train him. He went from being great to the best ever after that. He had constant injuries when he was younger. such exposure was lacking or is still lacking. 3) Monetary benefits - Its not just the athletes, the support staff also need to sustain to be able to help athletes. We all could see with our eyes, what people like Gopichand could do, if they have vision and find help to make it an opportunity where they can sustain by beinga coach. 4) Economical - middle class in India is not the same as middle class in many other countries. My 7 year old kid goes to Gachibowli stadium for badminton training. The training happens six days a week. From 12th to 16th(5 days), the stadium is closed as they have the santosham movie awards in the indoor stadium. Sunday and Monday for independence day makes sense. But they stopped the training for three additional days as they need to prepare for some junk movie awards function. |
