I've been yahoo paid member for their Mail Plus over 20 years so far. I love Yahoo. Many memories around. I used to use Altavista for search and hotmail OR USA.NET for email IDs before Yahoo. Once Yahoo came, it became a part of my internet based services(mail, groups, website hosting etc..) I will be a member as long as the new owner maintains it with Yahoo domain intact. I respect Yahoo and its employees forever. My first email ID was auto generated by Yahoo and I still maintain that as my primary email ID(other than my work email ID) | ||

Yahoo is not going out of businesses uncle. They got bought for 5B. The new company will want to retain all the users. I am sure they will continue yahoo mail. They would merge it with aol mail in a few years or vice versa. It will take some 9 months to get the regulatory approvals for the sale..appati daaka they can't even touch anything. | ||

Microsoft 40 B offer icchinappudu (wholesale acquistion)...core assets valued at close to 30B...Alibaba was not close to IPO then. Ippudu core assets sold for under 5B. Good deal for Verizon. Total, value of Yahoo around 40 B. Yahoo owns about 40% stake in Yahoo Japan. That is also quite valuable as Yahoo is dominant in Japan. Also, the patent portfolio that is not related to core assets will be sold separately. But, inni years ki hard to do apples to apples comparisons. Microsoft has not launched Bing when they tried to acquire Yahoo...ippudu Bing has almost 2x market share compared to Yahoo and they don't need Yahoo's search technology.
