Love needs his Tyson Chandler, and it doesn’t appear that player is on the horizon in Cleveland. Love isn’t nearly as versatile an offensive player as Dirk. He cannot consistently take smaller players off the dribble, and he doesn’t have the same height and length to allow him to shoot over the top of longer players in the post. In an ideal scenario, Love needs a more offensive-minded version of Chandler, a guy who can command a double-team and collapse interior defenses like his former teammate Nikola Pekovic, while still being able to step out on the perimeter and give Love room to operate in the post. In other words, Love needs a unicorn. A unicorn like Karl-Anthony Towns. The irony of his situation is that after failing to successfully build around him in the first six years of his career, the Wolves now have Love’s ideal frontcourt partner in this season’s rookie of the year. Towns could’ve covered for Love on defense as the pair formed the most versatile offensive frontcourt duo in the NBA. But the Wolves have moved on; Love needs what Minnesota now has more than it needs what he’s got left. Fortunately, there is another way, and it’s a move much more realistic than a Twin Cities reunion. Hear me out: Kevin Love for Carmelo Anthony. It almost makes too much sense for it not to happen. The 27-year-old Love embeds within Kristaps Porzingis’s timetable in New York better than the 32-year-old Anthony, and it’s not clear how a rebuilding Knicks team will be able to contend in the remaining years of Carmelo’s prime. Carmelo and LeBron have talked about playing together for years, while Carmelo’s ability to attack off the dribble as a 3/4 combo forward is exactly the player the Cavs need to contend with the Warriors. Kristaps Porzingis is the Latvian Karl-Anthony Towns. He may not be quite as versatile, but he’s every bit his equal as a shot-blocker and a 3-point shooter. There might not be another big man who is better suited for the Triangle than Love; he would thrive as a facilitator and a post-up player operating from the elbow. The Warriors face their own key question on defense: Who should Curry guard? He was awful and spaced out against everyone in Game 3. Irving destroyed him from the jump, in every possible way -- pick-and-rolls, crossovers, one-on-one play and off-ball movement. (It's out of fashion in the NBA, but sometimes I wonder if each team should give its point guard more chances to go into one-on-one attack mode against his counterpart.) Klay Thompson has been miles better against Irving, and the Warriors started the second half of Game 3 with Curry on Smith -- an easier matchup for him. But Smith finally got off, and he's tall enough to shoot contested 3s over Curry. Thompson can erase Smith almost entirely. The cleanest solution is to slot Thompson onto Irving full-time, and that's where I was leaning after Game 3. But with some time to think about it, perhaps the Warriors should give Curry one more shot at Irving. Curry isn't a great defender, but he can at least be a sound one when he's dialed in. If he can avoid screens, stay engaged and stick close to Irving, he should be able to make things hard for him. This is a less-dangerous version of the gamble Golden State took during the early parts of the Oklahoma City series, when Curry spent a lot of time guarding Russell Westbrook. | ||

I think Ingram is the best bet at 2...he is younger than most of the top prospects (age matters quite a bit for development). A forward that can shoot well and has the defensive tools will be a good prospect. Like another player at that age he will have to grow and develop into a solid nba player. Agree about Dragan, he will atleast need a couple of years before becoming a solid nba player. Its harder project him compared to Porzi because he played in a really inferion leagu.e | ||
