another notable gesture from the lady in andhra asramam My friend has this problem of trembling hands and cannot hold any item and eating is kind of an issue. Seeing his situation the lady patiently mixed the items one after another and in between washing her hands so that it's not mixed up. koora annam kalaputa, box lo pettuta, cheyi kadugu konuta. spoon to tinagane followed by pappu, pachchadi, rasam and majjiga. same on three days when we had our lunch. when my friend was going to rest room a lady asked me something which i could not follow. hindi laa sound vastondi but realized it's bengali. later her son came and was translating what happened with your friend? is it from childhood or suddenly happened etc.,?? She was crying like anything and I was kind of surprized. One can have that look of pity and some wet eyes but this is extreme (later understood her pain) Later that boy told that he is going to Vellore Medical Hospital for treatment. I was kind of shocked as he is looking food and asked what happened? he said he has Kidney issues and is in treatment. every year two/three times he comes to Vellore for check up and if needed stays there for few days and goes back to WB. edo mee abhimanam. taking my mother was there from the beginning. suddenly it struck to me that my friend usually won't go anywhere being immobile and since I am going there for three full days thought of taking him. Nothing special. in fact he was not at all ready to go but agreed after much convincing. my only point to him was it may take about 30 mins for me to take darshan or go somewhere and now it will take an extra 15/30 mins. But being with him in fact made it much easier for us .. another noticeable thing in this trip is not only arunachalam and TN pretty much every where in India there is absolutely NO or very little public smoking. The only one I saw was on Sat 30th when after coming out from Minerva in Himayath Nagar got the smell of cig and was wondering who the heck is that? Thought the temple closes in the afternoon the exception is for Pournami where they make sure all devotees enter into temple get darshan of lord arunachaleswara which is good. pilgrim places lo usual gaa unde mosalu alantivi pedda ekkuva emi levu anipinchindi. on pournami day in ramana asram who ever enters the first thing being said to them is pls go stand in line and eat food. They had literally thousands of vistarakulu packed under the tree and fed people continously with a plate full of Pongal/rice, sambar, one laddu and a small water bottle. That was great. Not only that many small time organizations/people etc., brought food in big degisas, or packed and distributed in the evening. many opened up free water stalls and people were filling their empty stomachs and bottles with food and water. the security arrangements and police is simply superb. bahusa every pournami ki alavatu aipoindemo? last but not least people walking around the giri with no slippers in that heat amazing. valla paada dhooli tagilina chaalu janma dhanyam. Yes raju garu. infact it did not strike me until I sat in the car that that's where Nadi jyoshyam is being told. Next tanjavoor trip aite undi for sure as part of TN tour. appudu kudirite malla covering cheyyali. One prob in TN is (may be every where) they close the temple sharply at about 12PM and open again at 4PM to close by 8.30/9 PM. not only this temple. Every temple in TN is like that only. One best thing among these big temples is they don't put any electrical lights inside the "garbhalayam". Only regular deepams. Also in every temple more stress is given to lighting "deepams". The Thirukkovil I saw (there was some seva to Vishnu so could not get darshan, but had Sri Mahalaskhmi darshan) is also very big temple. If you sit on the steps you can see the deity of ammaravaru from the steps which is almost like half a KM. As my friend cannot walk I asked them to give side for him and he could take darshan from that long distance. Evaru cheyyatam ledu and temple guys said it's now kind of beyond repair due to pollution. dannam petti neellu netti meeda challukunna. naadi ki vella kaani they said need at least 3 hours with first session costing about Rs2600/-. If no time at least one hour then will send the reports via web and all additional checks will be Rs 1000. Since I could not spare that much time unfortunately I skipped it. thanks for reminding me of chidambaram. Its pure bliss being in temple. Temple back side lo oka chakram untundi, if you sit infront of that chakram, you wont need any techniques for meditating. You will go to trans automatically, thats the power it has. By the way, danda veyyatam common, they do it for everyone who perform that pooja. Thats done as ritual by trust. But if you stand at one place, you can see shiva and vishnu is very rare to happen in any temple and that will give you realization that both are one and the same. No idea about it. These days everyone is pretty much following the road route for giri pradakshinam. In ramana maharshi days may be there were some/many.
Went to Vaideswaran temple in the morning (via some Thirukkovil lord vishnu temple) and by the time darshan was done it was noon. So stayed back in temple for a while and relaxdly reached Chidambaram. Chidambaram temple was not open until like 4 PM plus so waited in Taxi in that heat with no other option. kaneeswam kaaLLu kooDa kaDukkune yogam leda temple lo velle mundu anukunte right next to temple (East dwaram) found a pvt spot where they allowed to take bath for Rs.20 Once inside the Temple just stayed near the Nataraja aavaran for about two hours from 5 PM till 7plus including the three archanas, poojas followed by famous "chidambara rahasyam" Jihvaagre Vartate Lakshmi, Jihvaagre Mitra Baandhavaha Jihvaagre Bandhanam Praapti, Jihvaagre Maranam Dhruvam | ||

did pradakshinam on chaturdasi day evening in auto. pournami day. From the morning there is just pravaham of people doing giri velam. chinna pedda musali mutaka.. u name it u have that type there. really amazing. when asked they said about 8 lacs of people come for chitra pournami the second biggest day after kartika pournami (usually 35lacs plus will be there for this). we did one pradakshinam in auto in the morning as they wont allow autos from afternoon onwards. From evening the jana pravaham is so big that one cannot see whats there on the other side of the road for the whole 16KM stretch. I started at about 6.30 PM just before sandhya and did the pradakshinam. It took almost 5 plus hours with that jana pravaham. Day2 evening is chaturdasi day. We did giri velam in Auto (with my mom and other friend who cannot walk). The entire road of 16km plus was having festive atmosphere with people gearing up for pournami day. Lots of small business people. choottaniki rendu kaLLu chaalavu. the auto fella was a very good person. patiently stopped at each of the place while doing the giri velam and we finished it leisurely. went again to ramana asram for a while followed by tiffin at Seshadri asram canteen to sleep. third day the big day Chitra Pournima Jihvaagre Vartate Lakshmi, Jihvaagre Mitra Baandhavaha Jihvaagre Bandhanam Praapti, Jihvaagre Maranam Dhruvam | ||

ramana asramam lo koncham sepu koochunnaka, went to the place where ramana maharshi did his tapassu in initial days called skandha asramam and paatala guha. While hiking up you can see the arunachalam temple and giri. what a beatiful view. It was mid day when i went and forgot to take money with me. oka stage lo emanna ayipotanemo ani bhayam vesindi paina asramam lo kasinni neellu taagi, uttareeyam teesesi talaki talapagaa laga chuttukuni vachchesa. while coming saw an 80 plus old rather young man hiking to see patala guha. siggu padda. ayana kallaki dannam petti aseervadinchandi ani adigaa. 1st day night while sleeping got up suddenly with some screeching sounds. Thought some monkeys or cats are shouting/yelling. later realized that it's sound of peacocks. Those arupulu (called khrenkanamulu) were very nice and enjoyed a lot 2nd day went to temple early in the morning by 5AM. They do go(cow) pooja every day at 5 AM before the temple opens and the holy gOmaata enters the temple first. the four big raja gOpurams stand like anything with a feeling of they touching the sky. that was chaturdasi (wed 20th) and there are already many locals in the queue for the darshan of lord siva. while going there will be veyyi kaalla mantapam and one can see the paatala lingam there (ramana maharshi first was doing tapassu there for a while). the Big Elephant, gopurams, nandulu etc., it's simply superb.. The arunagiri (arunachalam/giri/konda) is right behind the temple. after abhishekams to swamy and ammal followed by darshan of other deities time to go to ramana asramam and do some meditation. The whole ramana asramam is very nice and maintained very well. Vja to Annamali direct train (Purulia to Vellipuram every Tues). Land on the holy land of Arunachaleswara in the night at about 8.30 after a 12 hour train journey. Straight to Andhra Asramam (close to Seshadri and Ramana Asramam). We can call and they will hold the rooms. My friend forgot about A/C room but non AC is good too. Especially bathroom is very clean. To get rooms in Ramana Asram we need to book well in advance with some explanations as they don't encourage or entertain certain things like you must eat food there only, no non-meditation activities should be done while being in Ramana Asram etc., Rent for non A/C room in Andhra asram is Rs.500 per day. They also provide means but we need to tell them before 8 AM. each mean is Rs.50rs with rice, pappu, koora, pachchadi, rasam and Majjiga. Meal is very good. Long awaiting visit of Arunachalam done leisurely. two days travel (12 hours one way in train), three full days (four nights) stay in Arunachalam. One day to Vaideswaran and Chidambaram (back to Annamalai same night). Followed by trip to Kaasi (for a family function there). Hectic travel. Heavy heat everywhere. Hyderabad, Warangal, Vja, Annamali, Chidambaram, Kaasi. Had some rain on Sat night in Hyd for a while. No comments on any politics or such topics. Can throw more light on Annamalai and Kaasi if someone is interested. On Sunday 24th while walking from Annapurna theater to Home via book stalls (Visited Ramakrishna Mission book stall opp Sailaja to buy some books) and becent road saw movie poster called Sarainodu (is the name correct?) and probably due to heat no janalu in Sailaja and Yuvaraj. Alankar lo Gabbar kyar kyar mantunnadu. Pump lo manchi neellu, intlo vantalu levu janaalu. Only Mineral Water (??) and kyataring.. intlo biyyam poyyi meeda padeste chaalu.. ade ten thousand...
