Another survival movie, looking like it was made by Terence Malick... I always felt that Leo was an overrated actor - this is the first time in history that an actor has been awarded an Oscar for panting, gasping and crawling. It is a great Oscar bait movie. I wonder what was so "pushing the envelope" in this that it deserved a Best Director Oscar. To be fair - the movie is not bad, it is a decent survival/ adventure movie made to look and feel that it had some rather grandiloquent commentary on race relations, colonialism in the US and all that... Before the last 15-20 minutes, it was like any other exploitative movie of Bala (tamil director). |
